    Agents for poetry?

Discussion in 'Agent Discussion' started by jim onion, Jan 4, 2018.

I've only ever come across discussions regarding agents that have to do with fiction and non-fiction, but I assume - unless I'm missing something glaringly obvious - that there are agents for poetry.

I guess I just have some very basic questions. Has anybody here ever used an agent for poetry? Is it very common? Where would one start looking?

I doubt there are many/any agents representing poetry, simply because there's not enough money in the field.

Even most short story writers don't have agents, unless they're short story writers and novelists.

Ah okay, this would make sense as to why I've never seen it brought up before.

Well, looks like I'll have to get to work doing it myself.

Seems rare to have agents represent you for poetry, never really heard of that before. Guess you'll just have to do the research.
