So, let's say you are reading a science fiction novel. The protagonist shows up to investigate a distress signal on a different planet, and the enemy is... aliens or mercenaries. Which would you rather it be, some new enemy alien race, or a group of human mercenaries with some devious crime scheme in mind?
They are both viable stories. You could even find both: The mercenaries could be exploiting the aliens The mercenaries could be allied with the aliens, making a threat greater than eiter alone The aliens could be exploiting the mercenaries and have a hidden agenda The aliens and the mercenaries may nnot have any relationship to each other, or one may even be unaware of the other's presence The distress signal could be by either faction, or from an individual who disagrees with what his, her, or its people are doing. Or it could be a lure for the unwary. I'm sure there are more possibilities, those were just off the top of my head. Get creative! So which one(s) do YOU want to write?
Those are some really good ideas. I really like the one about the two of them working together. I guess I'll just start writing though and see where the story takes me!
If { Legs=/=2 Then Antagonist = Mercenaries Else If{ LifeFormBase = 'Carbon' Antagonist = Mercenaries Else If{ LifeFormBase = 'Silocon' Antagonist = Aliens } Else If{ LifeFormBase = 'Metal' Antagonist = Robots } End }
Don't waste your time asking questions like this. Just have fun with it. The audience will have fun with it as long as you do.
