So, who is this Cogito character?

Good afternoon, everyone. My name is Dave, and I'm a Software Engineer living in Central New England. I've been programming professionally for nearly 30 years, and was a Research Chemist for 4 years before that, so now you have a pretty good clue to my age.

I have not actually published anything, unless you count a couple of Java articles for a company newsletter, and two short stories on my web site. I am currently revising the latter, and that made me click on the link to this site from another forum.

Although I consider myself a good writer mechanically, I do not write fiction well. Maybe I need practice, or maybe I just don't have the spark, or the driving obsession. But I do think it is worth exploring.

When I retire from the software industry, I cannot see myself settling into an easy chair. That would probably kill me in short order. Instead, I plan to teach science and mathematics at the college level. To that end, I am finally completing my undergraduate degree, and am looking at where I will seek a Masters in Education.

I hope that interacting here will braoden my communication skills, and perhaps even stimulate my creativity.

Hey there Cogito, welcome aboard. You already seem to have jumped straight into the Lounge and Word Games. And there are plenty of fiction writers here (including myself) who would be happy to help however we can. Good to have you aboard!
