    Anime

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by RusticOnion, Dec 31, 2011.

Hey guys I'm looking for good anime to watch, so I decided to make this theard where people can post anime they like and look at suggestions from other posters.

    I'll start.

Death Note (15) (psychological thriller/mystery)-- Great animie, strongly psychological but is still packed with action from tennis matches to high speed chases.

Naruto (pg) (Kids action) Good anime for younger folk new to the anime scene, full of action plot twists and compelling characters, just make sure to avoid the filler.

Afro samurai (16+) (post apocalyptic action) Great storyline filled with visceral carnage.

Samurai gun (16+) (Action drama) Interesting story with likable characters, and decent action... also breasts.

Fullmetal alchemist (pg-15) (not sure) A good step up from Naruto with an amazing world, attachable characters and excellent fight scenes.

    3) Bakuman

    4) Deadman Wonderland

    5) One Piece

    6) Monster

    7) Bleach

    8) Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji)

Bleach is my favorite one out of the list.

Yea, Bleach is amazing if you can get past the fillers.

Gurren Lagann is my all-time favorite; it's very motivational and inspiring.

Blue Exorcist started off really great, but the ending was too cliche.

Samurai Champloo has attitude; I like it. :D

Blue Exorcist should not have ended so soon. It could easily have gone on for a few more seasons. It felt rushed at the end.

I hate shows that end like that and with a good start. Have you ever seen the anime Claymore. Liked that alot, but it ended without completion...

I saw half of Claymore, but I forgot to go back and finish it until now, haha!

But, now that I know I will just be sad if I do, I am not so sure I will.

Also, Rustic, you should watch Kenshin, the OVA's and the movie.

X and the X movie is pretty good as well.

I'd recommend that everyone watch 「アキラ」 (Akira) before the American live action adaption comes out. I'm not a huge fan of animation but my parents convinced me that this film was amazing - and it is. :D

The movie is awesome. But the manga is even better.

Yeah the fillers are kinda annoying, but it's not as much as Naruto. I fell in love with the first season of Bleach, it was so perfect.

Bleach and Naruto are notorious for having the worst filler of all time. I am happy that Naruto is coming off filler this week after five months. Thank god I have the manga's to keep me happy during long stints of filler.

Some of Bleach's filler is to expand the storyline, most of it is just filler.

    You mean this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akira_%28film%29

    1988? It's ancient. :D

Do you recommend that I watch it?

My favorite character is Tetsuo. Loved the part where he freakin flew up into space and mounted the satellite. Awesome.

    1. Code geass (I'v also read planty of good faniction, propably the best one goes by name Dauntles)
    2. Naruto, except for too many fillers that are stacked (I woulnd't mind one here and two there but 20 in a row is too many)
    3. Blue exorcist (better start than end)

Classic does not mean dumb! Dragon Ball, Rurouni Kenshin, Yu yu Hakusho are examples of great anime gifted with amazing plots, characters and all that.

It depends on your taste, but I will post an anime list with their virtues, according to my watching phenomenon.

    - Bleach. Sure you will love the Characters there. Not a genius story line, but its fight scenes and techniques are the best virtues of this battle manga/anime.

    - Bakuman. From the creators of Death Note, so expect a well made plot. This anime is a slice of life and with an original idea that has never came before.

    - Hunter X Hunter. Adventure with strong and exotic characters. Elemental powers close to nature and complex fighting techniques. Check the remake 2011.

    - One piece. An original that has everything you want from an anime, from the hardcore seriousness, unexpected plot twists and fights, to the most comedian work piece.

    - Death Note. A thriller, detective that you can't miss. Intelligent with unexpected plot twists.

    - Gurren Lagann. A mecha anime like no other. This anime defies logic and you will be amazed by the soundtracks and inspiration it holds.

    - Black cat. Assassins, organizations, mass destructive/biological weapons and politics like our real world theatre plot.

Hope you can find from them what you see the best.
