I joined up today, so I'm still learning my way around this Forum. I write novels and short stories. I've just switched to trying to write erotic short stories. I'm a retired male in my 70s, I quite enjoy writing stories in which my POV character (usually 1 only) can be male or female. I've been writing for the best part of 50 years. I saw/see writing as my anti-Alzheimers plan. So far it seems to be working. I like to think I write titillating erotica while avoiding pornography. My shorts usually run between 5K to 12K words, but I'm currently working on a novella which might come in just under 30K. I hope someone might be able to answer these for me: Is there a size limit when posting works for criticism? If so, what is/are it/they.
Hi Sentosa, and welcome to the forum. Wow, sounds like you've got lots of experience under your belt! I'm sure other members here would love to hear about your journey as a writer as well as your current project. If you haven't checked it yet, here's our New Member Quick Start to get you started. As for your question. 1500 words would probably be the sweet spot. Before posting anything for critique, make sure you meet the forum requirements: 2 weeks of membership with the forum 2 constructive critiques given to items already in the Workshop for every item you want to post 20 post minimum (other than the first 2 critiques, the other posts can be from anywhere in the forum) I also recommend reading through this super useful article before posting to the Workshop. See you around! -Kat
Welcome to the Forum Good to see someone writing in their 70's, makes me confident that there is hope for me when I reach that milestone too
