I'm thinking in particular what the name is for those foldout signs you see on the street that note temporary conditions like, "no parking here from 6–11 am". Sandwich board doesn't sound quite right. Thanks
I know you don't mean this actual thing, but do you mean folding the way this barricade folds? Click me because no pictures fit the forum's reqs. If so, I have found sidewalk signs and A-Frame sign. These seem to be the industry terms.
That's the sign I mean. Thanks for the pic. It must have a name. They are so common. Well, the pic let me do a better search and I guess 'barricade' it is.
Well, again, sidewalk sign and A-Frame sign seem to be the industry terms. http://www.signoutfitters.com/sidewalksigns.aspx
'sandwich board' refers to the kind worn by a person who walks around to advertise whatever's on it... called that because the guy wearing it is 'sandwiched' between the two boards that are attached by straps over the shoulders, so he's in between them, like ham in a sandwich... so, that term wouldn't refer to 'free-standing signs' [can use that label, if you want accuracy]
What if they turn the board flat to make the sandwiches on? I finished the story (a short) and went with 'barricade' adding some more description to it, so thanks everyone.
