So, what am I doing here? Well, writing is my calling in life and I seem to share that with all of you. Unfortunately, I'm different from all of my other peers and I can't share this interest/obession with anyone in my regular life. Instead I hope to make new friends here who understands me a bit more! I'm Matilda, by the way. And.... Hello, to all of you
Writing for me is not my calling just a hobby. Maybe it was intended to be my calling but I chose a different path. I am glad to see some one who has chosen this noble path for their career. Welcome and I am looking forward to your input into this forum.
Hi, I can see where you're coming from. I too don't know anyone around here with this interest. What is it that you're writing, though?
JimFlagg: Well, I don't know if I've chosen it yet, but I'm pretty sure that the writing will choose me in the end. Thank you! Sang Hee: Well, as long as we're not alone Where are you from? Well, I mostly write novels and fanfiction.... or TRY, I should say. I kind of have a writer's block right now Gigi_GNR: Thank you very much
Oh, I'm sure I will! Although, I have to admit you all seem really, really intelligent. I'm not used to actually having to think before I write something Good practice, though!
I'm from the far north of Sweden. What is worse, to have a writer's block or have something disturbing the peace of mind you need for writing? I'm very upset recently and that prevents me from writing my book in a quality I need. It will probably take a week before I return to zen. It's very bad since there is not much time left for me to finish it. What fanfiction do you write, though?
Oh, I just noticed your location written under your profile picture! Silly me. What kind of book are you writing? That sounds very exciting. How come you have a deadline? I usually write fanfiction for Twilight, actually. Even though I'm not a particulary big Stephanie Meyer fan, I think her characters are very interesting to play with.
I don't really have a deadline but I'm still pushing myself to do finish it as quickly as I can because I need to do other things as well. So I just keep telling myself there is no time left. At the moment I'm writing a book to establish a franchise I've been working for past few years. It's a sci-fi setting with fantasy elements set into our universe. The whole thing is driven by an idea that I got while reading the Bible. I'm really excited about it but it's also a lot of hard work because of all the stuff I have to come up with to make it interesting. I wrote few fanfics myself but only from Warcraft. Actually, this week I'm trying to record a radio play that I've created from one of those. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
Welcome, Mathilda. Jag elskar Svenska flikor, and that's the only thing I know in Swedish (and probably misspelled!)
Hello Matilda, Welcome to the Creative Writing Forums. Please read How to Use the Writing Workshop before you try to post there. Posting your own writing for people to comment on should not be among the very first things you do here anyway. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. Also, be aware that posting a piece of writing on any public site, including this one, will greatly diminish your chances of selling it for publication. Removing the writing later does not alter that fact - once posted, it is irreversibly considered published. So do not post anything more than a small excerpt of any piece you are planning to submit for publication. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Writing Workshop, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Writing Workshop, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. We also impose a two-week waiting period before you may post writing for critique, to give you time to become familiar with what is expected and how the site operates. The Writing Workshop forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Writing Workshop forum). Also, please use the same thread for all revisions and additional excerpts from the same piece of writing. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out the RPG forum for improvisational fiction. Also try our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
