You don't need to save those because if you think about it, they're quoting other posts that you've already backed up in full.
Good to know. Also, let's move chat to the Freeze thread. I think it would be best to keep the RP and the move discussion separate.
Now, I believe I can get started on my new post. I assume it would be best to write either Dusca or the ladies. Any preference? Do you have ideas for the bandit fight, or should I write that?
There are so many ways to go with the next post! We might look to the other characters and their motivation to hit the road to Cliffcross. Maybe it is time to look to the Queen, Hemios and Barnabas and their stake in the matter.
I am all for this, but at the moment, I feel switching characters will undercut the tension of the trio fleeing the city. Maybe once we have them on a more stable path, we can check in on the queen. Because Arsbeth is most likely to report back to her soon-ish.
OKAY! I made a new post since i was inspired and also, you two wanted more of the story. So, enjoy! @ps102, it's your turn, I think. I hope I set things up well for you. What Olive did was just gather water from nearby sources.
Great post! It's got so much tension but, there is a problem that we probably can't ignore if we want to keep the story consistent. Olive draws water from the bodies, but that's not how our magic works. She basically "creates" new water; she doesn't draw it from the surrounding environment. The basic component behind the magic system is Ether, which mages use to construct the elements. On top of that, Olive has no control over her magic, so I highly doubt she'd be able to control it to a point where she attacks the bandits and not her team mates. The only thing Olive can really do is just flood everything right now. But that's going to change soon when she takes advantage of the new class of magic we introduced (the spirits). I'm not sure if there is an easy fix for this without changing your post a lot, which I really don't want you to do after the work you put to it.
Thank you I am glad you like the tension! As for the story problem, I had the idea that water mages could pull from all water sources- including people. I think my logic behind what happened is that Olive doesn't have control, but Ravenna doesn't pose a threat, so she was skipped over. Also, I felt like there would be enough water in the air to do much and I guess my ideas about Ether was off. Because I thought it just was a conduit of magic, kinda? Okay, flooding everything is possible. I figured though since she had been working with Gamma, her skills had changed slightly. As for changing this, I 100% could do that. But first, wanted to ask, because I want to find a fair balance: Can I give Ravenna some medium injuries? Because it's possible she could fend off the bandits, but won't escape without some hurt. Because it is 4 against 1. I am asking about the injuries as I don't want to create a self-indulgent tango. I also wanted to try and include some of the other characters- maybe Olive and Katara can each take a bandit down. And if I re-write this, can I add some of Nalki and Dusca? @Louanne Learning, I left the end of the post open so Katara could wake up and be part of the battle. If you wanted me to have her wake sooner, I will. @SoulFire YES!!! Please feel free to return on the new forum! I am so happy you want to come back as we have all missed you.
Okay, I can re-write this. Did you also read the other points I made in the post above? I would love some feedback as I don't want to 1. wreck any of the main character too much. 2. have the women kill anyone. Doesn't seem like something Olive or Katara would do. Ravenna, yes. But I don't wanna make murderers out of everyone. LOL. So, I would like to brainstorm some NOT lethal solutions to the bandit problem. Flooding works, I am sure. But that would only push them away temporarily.
Ravenna is your character, so you can do as you like As long as it's not Mortal Kombat level gore, I'm fine. I don't think Olive would kill anyone either. I have some specific thoughts around that subject, actually. Not a problem really. It doesn't have to end with Olive flooding everything. In fact, that would be pretty boring. Me mentioning that was just me stating her abilities.
Cool! Fun times. I will try my best to not incapacitate her, then. Oh, interesting. I can't wait to hear them as I assume it's for later. Okay, good to know. I will start re-writing soon-ish. I will have it posted today. But thanks for your feedback on all this.
Well, I think it comes down to this - What is the purpose of the bandits in the story? What relevance do they have to the girls character arcs? Personally, I'd like to see this as the first instance of them working together to overcome this obstacle. Maybe by outsmarting them.
I like think about fight scenes as team building exercises. And the bandits I think are just there to show that the outside world is dangerous and the women need to be careful. Not to mention, it gives them a chance to hone their fighting skills that will come in handy later. And yes! This IS about working together. I am not sure how they would outsmart the bandits. The men are not interested in talking or negotiating. To me, this a 'beat them up to win' situation.
@Louanne Learning and @ps102, I fixed it! I like it better, now. I also made it more of a group scene, which I think benifits everyone. Katara and Olive I think have begun to trust one another. Nothing like being saved by one another, right? Also, I had to use the cast iron pan. I love fights with frying pans. (Thanks, Tangled!) I don't know if Katara killed that person she threw it at, but since it was off-screen, you are free to use your imagination. Like kid movies where the heroes are knocking people out, but they are always fine. The women took the weapons with them, so they have an axe and longsword now. I also gave them daggers, because it's a lightweight weapon. Also, yes, Ravenna caught that sword and lost a few fingers. I am sure she will be fine and Alisso didn't bother to come to her rescue. Because he most likely sensed she had the situation under control and I didn't want him to cause a rampage. Hope you all enjoyed and this made logical sense.
Thanks! I am glad you like it. I fixed it just now, because I realized physics wise, it would make more sense for Ravenna's left thumb to be a casualty. Because she caught it with both, but right above left. So, she's minus her left thumb now. But I don't think she's going to pass out from it- might be tired and in pain. But it's not the worst she has felt. Anyway, thanks for reading and I am glad it's action-packed! I was going for that.
It's my turn now, right? I think I see an opportunity for what I'll do. I'm still studying pretty hard so I'll try to get it done tomorrow. If I see that I can't do it within three days, I'll skip my turn. I only have one assignment left but it's pretty big and at best, it will take me all week. Wish me luck!
Yep! It is your turn. And I understand. Hope the project goes well. Also, since the forum is moving, there is less need to write a whole bunch. So, please take care of yourself.
Hey, just checking in to see how you guys want to handle the changeover. It's easy to create a role playing thread for you to continue the story, but what do you want to do with the archives? Do you want to repost them piece by piece? Let me know.
Hello Homer, I would honestly love to have a section of the forum for Roleplay. Because each of these Roleplay games need multiple threads to run properly. So, if it could be made like this one, that would be great. I am planning to archive the Vampire story- so I won't be reposting, but keeping the work for the individual players to request their segments. As for the Tavern one, I may just do a 'the story thus far' thread and mass-repost it all with attribution to each player. (Except @EFMingo who has NOT currently involved or gave permission for us to keep using the character he created.) So, I most likely will be reposting the main story piece by piece. It will be a lot, but we only have about 35 posts total? As for the OOC thread, I will restart it. The Lore/Worldbuilding, I will repost it so it's easy to access. But at least, having our own section of the forum would work best. I hope that's possible. Thanks so much and I am sure we will be up and running again in no time. p.s. As for the archives, I only saved threads that I created as Mini-Mod. All the other older 1000 page RPGs are going to disappear.
