I have decided to write my next project in my native language which is French and I was wondering if it would be a viable solution to post it on this site for critique. I've grown quite fond of this community and when I decide to post excerpts from my work I hope that I can do it over here. Now I was wondering if some of you speak French either as a first or second language. I've got another question, this one perhaps for the mods: is it against the rules to post in another language than English in the workshop? Thanks for your help.
good question... material in languages other than english might not be allowed [and shouldn't be] only because the moderators would not be able to tell if the posted material contains anything that is prohibited by the site rules... my best advice is to find french language writing sites where you can post your work freely and get reliable feedback... and save this one for your english writings... bonne chance, mon ami! love and hugs, maia
Fifth bullet point in the site rules: Now obviously, the moderators don't enforce this rigidly. Svery short passages are acceptable, especially in European k=languages the moderators know sufficiently well to examine for prohibited content. But any significant-sized excerpt would not be acceptable.
Speaking purely for myself my French is good enough to allow short comments like this, just don't expect me to read and review any short stories in French, okay.
