I follow the Passive Voice blog, the Jane Friedman blog... oh, wait! I also follow KJ Charles' blog. She's an author! She's kind of in the same vein as Alexis Hall, my other author-blog, I'd say - they post things that are kind of around the periphery of the writing world. Like, when there's a social issue or something they tend to post sensible reactions to those issues. I like that, but I think you have to be really tuned-in and savvy to be able to comment on the fray without being dragged into it. And now, with my Tenderiser addition, I follow three authors. And they're all British. That seems statistically unlikely for random choice... hmmmm...
