Perhaps using grandama's cremated remains in crafting
underwear may not have been the smartest choice. :p

Animals, really? Great album, but not my fav... tough to beat The Wall, but there isn't really a loser in the bunch.

And then things got awkward in bed...Jake left a stilted rushed note on the nightstand
and bailed before the sunrise. He regretted taking her at her word when she said she
    was a 'freak'.
On the D Train heading home, he thought it much wiser to not pick up any more ladies
that were into that whole thing. She may have loved her grannie, but hot damn that was
    where he drew the line.

Lots of good ones, but yeah Animals is probably my favorite. Hell, Dogs alone is enough to put it up there.

This woman is, to me, very, very obviously acting. Yes, it IS a publicity stunt.

She understands fully well what she's done is absurd - it's attention she was after. And she's evidently glad she got her wish. She's calculated the whole thing.

Maybe, but there are some mentally unhinged people out there. And this isn't helping her, it had the opposite effect. But she said that out C&D letters to authors.

It is all an act, she's pretty much f***** herself over. Because this is a dumbest thing anyone could do.

It wouldn't be the first time some desperate soul is after publicity for the better or worse. I do believe she's unhinged all right, and I do believe this is one big publicity stunt - which obviously doesn't mean we shouldn't be discussing the matter at length.

I probably should have added "is what I think" to my last sentence. But I still think I'm right. ;)

You see my problem with that theory is not that she sent out bogus C&D letters, or fucked up in her response video, where she should have said: "Look guys, i'm sorry it was just a publicity stunt and we didn't mean anything serious by it" . But then... But then.. you have to remember she had Amazon take down other people's work, because it had COCKY in the title. even people who were using it before her or her trademark. Yeah, and that's not cool and goes beyond just a simple publicity stunt. and into the malicious realm.

  13. I agree. She's taken it way beyond the level of publicity stunt.

Okay, so maybe I should have left the term publicity stunt alone. I think she's seriously unbalanced, and does want attention indeed, because there's no way she could have thought any less than what is happening now would happen. You've said it yourself, it's just the dumbest thing anyone could find to do, that's so obvious, and I can't believe she couldn't have figured that out from the beginning.

So is this translated bullsh*t, bullsh*t? I won't get offended, I promise. I'm only too curious now. It's fair to say I do have far-fetched ideas sometimes.

I doubt she had any idea it would blow up like this, or any intention for it to do so.

One hell of a publicity stunt, then. Backfired in the worst way possible.

as I said earlier look at Gerald Ratner (the man who destroyed his business by saying "all my jewellery is crap and my customers are all mugs", live on national tv)

that said I don't think faleena intended this, I think she's just a bully and didn't think through what would happen if the victims of her C&Ds didn't roll over

Yeah, as I said above publicity stunt isn't the correct term, though I think we've passed this point by now. I can't conceive that someone could not have anticipated the magnitude of the response, but I think most of you have disagreed with my theory in one language or another. Yes, I might be entirely wrong.

When saying she was acting I was not talking about someone writing a script she'd rehearsed, but that her whole attitude seems completely unnatural and calculated, to me, and I do think she's somehow enjoying the attention she is getting, in spite of it being negative.

I feel you haven't met someone like Faleena. Once you met that person, nothing won't surprise you.

Once you open Pandora's Box, it's easy to fall back and claim it was all planned. I'm sure Faleena didn't think the evil of trademarking a common word would backfire.

Based on everything I've seen/read/heard, I have to say this is my take too. It doesn't seem like she's been part of the Romance writing community, so I doubt she had any idea how quickly and fiercely the citizens of Romancelandia tend circle the wagons at signs of an attack.

  22. Sorry, you have to watch the first 12 minutes or so of the video, she makes that noise a couple times.

Sure... She isn't claiming it was all planned, though, is she? I'm the one who suggested that.

Right. I was piggybacking off what you suggested. In the event that your theory is correct - that Faleena planned the entire thing - I'm sure Faleena would claim what I think she would say. It's fair to say very few know what went down when Faleena trademarked "cocky", but we can agree that this situation is quite a mess Faleena dug for herself. There is definitely a lesson to be learned here: don't kick the wasp nest that is the Romance community. :-D
