    Biography

    i am new to trying to get published but i have decided that i want to write my life story because of the things that i have gone through but some of the things like abuse and things i am not sure if i should be graphic or just mention them? should i give detailed info or just mention it?

    I think you should read Atlas of the Heart by Ariel Gore.

    Ariel is a good writer, and she addresses a lot of issues very frankly. She was raped, she ran away to live in Europe and became a smuggler, and eventually got pregnant and moved back to the States.

    I think that if you are going to write a story of your life you shouldn't shy away from things that might be graphic. If you have a problem with it, you can always delete it later.

    Say what you need to say. Don't gloss over things if you feel that they are important to your story.
