Well, as long as people are still interested. I guess I'll put up a voting thread for next month.

I never doubted it's plausibility. I just hate cruelty to children, no matter what the reason. I took a course on child abuse and saw all kinds of horrifying things in that course.

I'm halfway through Ender's Shadow now. I wonder how much of Bean's character he had thought out when he was writing the original novel. It all fits together so well.

    Hey, guys.

A few of us have been batting around the idea of reviving the book club. Once we have an idea of the level of interest, we can start picking books. So, any takers?

It probably goes without saying but - I'm in!

Yep I'm definitely in...I was thinking I should start a poll or something, see what books would be the most popular choices? But mos def I'm in...and if no one else is, we can just continue our own two person lit club :p

I can't say the current voting selection excites me. Maybe it would have been better to solicit book suggestions first, and THEN put up a vote.

Lol if you read the post, I do invite/encourage suggestions...the initial poll is just to see what sorts of things people read (and, unfortunately, it looks like scifi is winning again

On the other hand, they are award winners and represent some of the most respected writers of the current generation, so maybe people just need to open up a little....

My point was for the voting list not to be put up at all until you solicited ideas. There;s a difference between a prefabricated list "Oh, and feel free to suggest a book of your own" and "Let's collect some book suggestions, and when we have a decent set of them, we can vote on them."

It puts a bit more ownership into the hands of potential participants. Take a look at how it was started up the first time. Obviously, that attempt lapsed, but the methods they used had merit.

It looks like the book for July is gonna be The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman....there's another thread with voting/suggestions so maybe direct your queries there.
