    Brain Stormers

Discussion in 'Plot Development' started by sprirj, May 19, 2009.

Anyone want to discuss the book they are writing in more detail? Need ideas?
Another point of View? Creative problem solving?

I'm very lonely when it comes to writing my book, and I like to talk ideas out....normally I test this out on my poor girlfriend or fellow workers, with very little feedback or extra input. So I'm after some like minded writers to pen pal.

    Anyone interested?

    Thanks

Ha i'm the same. Though family and friends can never fwin when i used to ask for feedback. They would either say little and would annoy me or say too much, where i would tell them, they were just bias ;)

    What genre is your novel?

Wow thanks for the replies. Guess all in the same boat!

My book is fiction. Futuristic Fable of sorts. I like writers like Micheal Hollebeque and Chuck Palahniuk (apologies for incorrect spellings of names).

Chuck Palahniuk is one of my favourite writers. Choke and Haunted were a couple of the best reads..

It's called Pygmy, its about this exchange student who goes to America from a (fictional) East Asian totalitarian country....and his plan to bring "fat, dumb" America to its knees....I'm about halfway right now, its getting better....the writing is very different...since its written from the POV of this kid, the english is very broken...but its very ambitious, i wont give any more away!!

It hasn't won me over. Doesn't sound as shocking. Does sound worth a try. Perhaps not at the top of my list though. Thanks for the info anywhoo. I'd like to read Fight Club first. Before I see the film. If i can get around to it. Probably should try writing first... or at least finish the book i just started ^^;; i got 3 out the library and i work full time... don't know what i'm thinking. I could easily read a book in a week during the summer i had off.... *sigh*

Also in the same boat here. Working on a fantasy novel and I don't have anybody in "real life" to discuss it with. My girlfriend tries... sort of. But she's unwilling to actually read it, so that does me little good.

I'm stuck right now, more from lack of confidence than lack of ideas. I'm a bit blind to the quality of my own work and it's difficult to keep writing when I may simply be reenforcing bad habits with every word.

I do, and I actually did get some nice reviews. My concern though is how I've progressed since then, especially with the later stuff that I don't really want to post, mostly due to issues with first publication rights. I'm happy to share my work on an individual basis, but I don't want to post any more publicly.

There are a lot of online writing groups. I bet you can find a local writing group as well.

Also, depending on what you write, you can join a chapter house of RWA or the sci-fi fantasy equivalent.

Also in the same boat! I love most fiction, but what interests me the most is fantasy fiction. Right now, I'm in the process of world building, and well... the only person I can talk about my book are my brothers, and they're not exactly readers so... you get my point.

It seems like we could almost be our own little writing group here since many of us are facing the same issues. I'm open to a PM as well.

seije, I might contact you in a bit if you're interested.

    Hey, I'm 16, f, and USA.

I'm writing a fantasy series and I need some feedback from people who don't really know me personally. (i tend to sort of disregard feedback from friends and relatives because i think they're just trying to not offend me.)

I also have some other ideas which aren't going so well which I need to throw back and forth with another writer. any takers?

We have a group of writers all with similar goals, which is great. I'm happy to pm individuals and discuss ideas.

I may develop this group further depending on the response :)
