Character Creation

Ok, this game we are going to work together to build characters, in the essence of a character bio.

You post an attribute or quirk that a character would have.

Every five posts we design a new character. Also, no member can contribute more than once to the same character, or post twice in a row (i.e. finish the old character and begin the new one).

Example:

Post 1: tall male
Post 2: blonde hair
Post 3: bites his nails
Post 4: has an annoying sister
Post 5: is shy
(new character then started in post 6)

Please feel free to be more elaborate than the example. After all, it was just an example. This game should help people that are having a hard time coming up with new characters.


I'll start with Post 1:


An 8 year old boy.

 

in fourteenth century China

 

When he was only four, he was bitten by a spider.
He is now terrified of all insects.

 

Has developed a rather nasty limp, due to prolonged exposure to moisture on a patty farm. Topical immersion foot, anyone?

 

has a pet weasel, which he carries in his satchel

 

The next character is the boy's father, who as we already know, is a 14th century Chinese patty farmer.

He has been questioning his faith in Buddhism, which was a converted faith anyway since his father was a Taoist. He is reminded that life is suffering and believes in the power of meditation, but he wants for something simpler and more down-to-Earth than some of the Buddhist principles he's heard, also something more practical and logical. His wife, also a Buddhist, has been patient with him in this respect, and believes he needs to find his path for enlightenment.

 

2. 40 years old

 

His left leg is deformed and stiff. He fell from a ledge as a child when climbing to look at a bird's nest halfway up a cliff, and the broken bones were not properly set.

 

Evidence of his former ties to taoism is clear through the medicinal practices he accepts as truth. Balancing bodily fluids etc.

 

is strongly/overly protective of his son and wife

 

Janine is twenty-three years old, nearsighted, and has an unfortunate acne problem.

 

She's built like a lamp post.

 

She has a crush on a cute and popular co-worker that won't talk to her. When she is around him she gets nervous and bites her nails.

 

She is always snagging her pantyhose and she has lipstick stains on her teeth.

 

She has the power to communicate telepathically with animals.

 

A 90 year old man whos bald and blind.

 

Few of the general public have heard of him, but Anton Zarkova is world-renowned in the circles of theoretical mathematics. His current line of thinking may open the way to the stars, if he lives long enough to develop it.

 

He sits for hours, typing away on his brail type writer because he feels computers are impersonal.

 

Because he's blind, and can't lift his arms above shoulder level, he is unaware of his baldness!!!

 

His seeing-eye dog is actually a time traveler, come to this time and place to watch as the blind man makes a startling discovery that will change the universe forever.

 

A thirteen year old boy that is afraid of lint and hides under his desk.

 

Suffers from kleptomania.

 

And has a penchant for dressing in his older sister's clothing...

 

Cannot remember the last year, due to amnesia from an unknown cause.

 

but three broken ribs and scarring tells him that he probably doesnt want to remember.
