I just spent like three hours at urgent care waiting for a doctor to see me so he could tell me I had a uti. Oh, wait! I already knew that! If only there were a way to get a prescription for antibiotics without going through a doctor...
I'm watching Beauty and the Beast .. and I wish there were a way to get a prescription without going through a doctor, that'd save some time.
I'm hesitant about free healthcare...but more widely available, more reasonably priced healthcare would be nice. I just spend like $150 for a doctor to tell me what I already knew. Ridiculous.
That's ridiculous... I'm lucky I live in Australia. Because I come from a low-income family, I get free doctor consultations, and heavily discounted medicine. I don't know how my family would survive if it were otherwise. = /
In Greece we have a free health care and it's nice. Here in the states if I had appendicitis here, I just wonder how much that would cost. In Greece every expense was paid for my surgery to take my appendix. It was nice. My parents aren't extremely wealth, we're middle class, but we're being killed by medical services here.
In the UK we have free health care, and although we moan about it non-stop, that's just because we like to moan. I seriously think it was one of the best things implimented in Britain in the 20th century. I really don't understand why so many Americans think that a free healthcare system would be a bad thing. Then again, I don't understand why they think that socialism is the devil, either.
Yeah the NHS is the thing we love to hate...but without it...whoa we'd be buggered. What is wrong with having free healthcare??
That's what I'm wondering. But a lot of Americans hate the idea. I think it's to do with capitalism- you can't make as much money off of people's suffering if the government is paying for it, not the sick/dying people.
That may be a very jaded view of the whole thing- for all I know that isn't the view of the majority of people in the US. But it's certainly the view of the high-ups in the US medical industry (and the Republicans, but that's not really a surprise to anyone, is it?).
That is only for people who are the pension or a low income earner health care card. Most people are still paying for doctor consultations and full price for medications and it can be rather expensive as well. for anti natal consults, the price is madness!! I am just lucky to have the low income eaerner health care card or I'd never be able to afford proper doctor care with my pregnancy! Though it doesn't help with ultrasouns and my childrens appointments with the specialists. I still have all that to pay for and at $200 each ultrasound and fuel, then around the same amount each time I have to take my kids to a specialist... it gets really costly, especially when some of my daughters meds are in the hundreds! Our health system isn't that crash hot if you ask me.
Our current healthcare system is broken, but I'm not sure that socialized healthcare is the answer. There's simply got to be another way that's a happy medium between the two. The trouble is, both major parties have an "all or nothing" attitude about nearly everything.
I forgot my breakfast at home and was forced to eat Butterfingers from the office candy dish because I have to take my antibiotic with food...what a terrible thing to be forced to do!
Dude, the pharmacist told me not to take my antibiotics with food. And they didn't give me the stuff that makes your pee orange, which sucks because that's what makes the pain go away while you still have the infection. Not nice, Mr. Doctor Man. Not nice.
You can get the stuff that makes you pee orange over the counter, it is called OZ for the blatter, it helps a lot, and I think you are thinking of pyrimdim. I hate that stuff but it works.
