If you're having trouble editing, or finishing a story, the best thing to do is put the pen/keyboard down and walk away.

Leave it for a week, hell, even two. It'll be a pain when it's the only thing on your mind, but it's for the best.

Then, go back to it with fresh eyes and a clear face, and you'll suddenly see the real mistakes that you're making. It's alot easier and it saves some easy mistakes.

    Then who's the father?

I'm just kidding, Jonathan. :] When I edit my papers, very intensely, I'll take it to my mom and she (very politely, as all mothers usually do,) ripped it apart, essentially. Sometimes so I just feel like giving myself a facepalm. =D

EDIT: I think it's safe to say that my editing skills could stand with some improvement.

where do you get your avatar from?

as a side note, have you ever heard of the early German folk tale 'Hans the Hedgehog'?

No, I have not heard of "Hans the Hedgehog," I'll have to look into that. It'll be miraculous, I'm sure. :D

I drew my avatar myself on MS Paint. If you want to know why I have my username TheHedgehog, one of the earliest things I wrote was a paper on my pet Hedgehog in second grade, along with a paper on apple pie. Since those two papers sort of got me wanting to write, I figured Hedgehogs were synonymous with my writing. :]

EDIT: if you do not want to call me Hedge, then you may use my real name, which is Greg.

I remembered it because when I was a kid there was this Jim Henson show called 'The Storyteller' that had a few early folk tales. That was one of them, had an impression on me.

You have good memory, I cant even remember my earliest writing.

I just finished reading "Hans the Hedgehog" and let me say it was very interesting -- certainly quite an enjoyable read, and very bizarre, but also splendid. Thanks for that idea Jonathan. If only I could play bagpipes and ride astride a chicken... I think that would be pretty darn glorious, wouldn't you?

Huh. Never heard of that before. I'm currently listening to music and replying to you post.

    And... that's about it.

Good Gourd, I should probably catch up on some reading before my library books get overdue.

They raised the overdue rate at the library from 15 cents a day to 20 cents a day.

I love that movie! So imaginative. Definitely a favorite.

I just got back from Orlando. Family vacation. It was an...interesting trip.

I have decided that I prefer editing over researching, when it comes to poetry! I can't even find any poetry written about this topic either. It's a pain in the buttside!

Im trying to write my poem, Waltz. But I need to find video footage of people dancing, not doing the waltz, but horror footage of two people dancing... if that makes sense? I've not come across anything as yet and it hurts my head.

I have vague memories of watching a scary movie that involved people dancing...but vague memories probably don't do you much good. I fail.

I just watched the dance scene from the Puppet Master, it really didn't help.

chandler, the myth sounds interesting to me...
