Goodness. I have a close friend that lives in Alaska. She tells me it's still extremely cold up there too, though to be honest, I didn't even realize she had such a long summer as she does. I figured it would be cold for most of it. My ignorance, I suppose. The more you know
I'm in class and it's a waste of my time. This class is so meaningless and useless, yet they make all Freshman take it.
oww...!!I'm sorry for you Lessa..my mom get's real monotic and droopy in this kinda weather and then starts all the my small shildren stuff!! As if!!
you got only one useless class Conolly.we got three.....aagh...btw hav u ever thought tht if we shorten up your name it'll be Con........lol.....as in a con an.......as in a mafia......ha!
I live on the hump (north shore of lake superior) and it is never really hot here. Always a wind off the lake and even though it is a south wind it isn't all that warm. But I like that it isn't hot. We love the area since there are no cities closer than 3 hours away and we see lots of wildlife without leaving town. Lakes and rivers are all over here so we fish a lot and go hunting and do a lot of camping. Dom wants to come home from China for the summer to go camping with us so that will be fun until he heads back to china at the end of Aug. but 2 months with him home will be so nice.
Oasis, I'm in Year 8 at secondary school, so that would be 8th Grade at high school. I don't enjoy lessons like R.E and Geography because I just keep thinking to my myself, I know this! Oh yeah, did a Drama assessment today and got a level 5A, highest in the class, and I'm not much of an actor. Anybody doen any tests or assessments recently? Oh yeah, did a maths test today and I hated it. It was one of those childish ones that has to have some description of school children at every question. Woah, gone of on a tangent there.
*starts crying* I got a maths test tomorrow and I can't sleep........!!And I've not prepared...........and it's on banking!
Math was always my worst subject. Found out a few years ago I am math dyslexic. Numbers jump around from column to column so they never added up the same amount twice. wish I had known that when teachers kept telling me how stupid I was. The class in high school which was totally useless for me was home economics. I was 14 in that class and had been cooking since I was 8. Why did I have to take cooking classes. They did teach me one new dish "broiled grapefruit" horrible thing to eat and I only made it once and never again. I wanted to take woodworking but girls were not allowed. stupid rule which finally got taken away.
Will be back later. have to go pack a lunch for Don since he leaves for work in about 2 hours. hate this shift. he leaves at 6pm and gets home at 4am. strange times to be eating.
No one would let me in their kitchen even if I payed them........I'm a terrible cook. My 10-year old cousin cooks better........I never learnt, and my Dad wouldn't let me, saying I'd got better stuff to do............bye Lessa.......
I love to cook. I want to take some more classes in college, because I never got the oppertunity in High School.
good for you.........and hopefully you'll never have a girlfrind who cooks like me...........imagine even while making macroni, i experiment...........I once put 3 spoons yoghurt in it, and then my mother forced me to eat it, and it was so yuck! I learnt not to experiment from then.
My range of experimental cooking has been putting a massive amount of chilli sauce into the pan while frying an egg. Only works if your tonge can handle the heat!
lol.......when I make any veg or something I put in spices according to my taste, which are pretty high even according to Indian standards, and I love it when my mom and sis go about screaing with fire....lol
I made a really nice spicy lentil soup in Food Technology (Home Economics if you will) which was perfect for warming me up after Rugby the same day. But I've never been able to recreate its brilliance.......
Where in Northern England are you from Sywo? I've yet to encounter another area apart from my hometown where it was called food technology as opposed to home economics.
County Durham Banzai close to Newcastle. You know, over sized cathedral and what not. Technology can be one of our best lessons, what with cooking, textiles, woodwork, plastics and metals, it can be quite over whelming. Perhaps Nothern England is a bit misleading, perhaps I should change it to North-Eastern England?
It absolutely infuriates , how other people get it so easy, whereas Ma'am just makes it harder for us!! Instead of Home Economics she has SUPW and Cadet training issued. And we've got the best swimming pool in the state and dayscholars have to come to school early for swimming!! How, well, cheap!!
My school doesn't have swimming lessons, so I've taken it into my own hands and have been a member of a swimming club for countless years. And believe me, if I didn't swim, I would be extremely obese, what with my ferocious appetite. Perhaps I should get a picture to show the wondeful benefits of swimming. All though, I do have to get up at 5am for morning training on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
I love cooking. I've been teaching myself how to do it over the past few months. When I started, I had trouble making Raman Noodles, but now I can make things like Jambalaya Shrimp.
If the meal plans there are anything like they are here, don't get one. It's the best choice you will ever make.
