One's a literary legend whose talent and skill are unquestionable, known for mastering the art of fear. One wrote a series of okay children's books.
Stephen King, just for The Stand. Did he get published in Harper's recently? I know I heard somewhere that he did.
I'd cheer for JK Rowling, because she's such an inspiration and really deserves to win... ...but really, the reason I watched that video was because I'm pretty sure the ref was voiced by the same guy who did Iago the parrot in Aladdin. =D
How So? King will go down in History as one of the great authors of the 21st centuary. Rowling wrote seven books that sold well, but are hotly debated in writing circles.
Why's this suddenly a big debate on who's better. They're both really good authors that have their own individual niches amongst society. Still... I personally go for Stephen King...
Because I need conflict in order to live. I'm there's some personality disorder... And it's like comparing Crown Royal to 7-up.
She's an inspiration because before she wrote the books, she was dirt poor and essentially living a crappy life. Now, through hard working and genuine good writing, she's really never going to have to worry about that again. That's an inspiration to me. That shows that if you try enough, you will get heard, and get rewarded for it. (I realize that for 90% of life this is pure crap- but hey, that's what an inspiration is for.)
GO KING! GO KING! I'd go for woman power but Stephen King is a LEGEND! Down with J.K Rowling! lol But you are right Crazy Ivan, she is an extremely inspiring lady. And it is great that she has done so well. She is an awesome writer that is for sure.
