Need help with researching the CIA. Hello, if someone could help with the following that would be greatly appreciated. One of the main antagonists in a piece I am begining to work on, is a senior operations officer within the National Clandestine Service (the clandestine arm of the CIA). His role being a senior staff member running a large division, their role being intelligence collection on international terrorism. The rest of the main characters belong to both the British Government's Secret Intelligence Service (SIS) (colloquially known as MI6) and the British Army. However my knowledge is not as strong on the subject of the CIA, this is were I need some help. What I would like to know is would my Senior operations officer hold a particular degree or phd, or what would be a recommended academic track for someone that has got to his position within the CIA? Is the job title of senior operations officer within the National Clandestine Service correct? Where is he likely to be based, i.e where would his offices be. Would the age of 58 be viable for a Senior operations officer? If anyone can offer anything to this or offer any other helpful advise you would be really helping me out. Thanks Medic
Hi and thanks for the reply, I honestly assumed that contacting them directly with such questions would get me nowhere. So I am trying to get a few feelers out there first and see what I can learn for myself. Anyone that can offer some help would really be helping me out on this one. Saying that thanks for the advice, it does seem the best way to get valid answers.
Thank you marina for taking the time out to help, it really is surprising just what a couple of google searches can dig up. I am still relatively new the world of the Internet, though I am learning fast. Deep down I though, if I searched too hard for certain offices of the CIA, I would be getting a visit from the men in dark suits! Seriously though, thanks for the reply. Anyone with any other useful information on the subject do get in touch. On a side If anyone else can help construct this characters education background get in touch. PS. If you are interested in what the NCS is, to quote from the CIA web page In this environment, the National Clandestine Service (NCS) operates as the clandestine arm of the CIA, and serves as the national authority for the coordination, deconfliction, and evaluation of clandestine human intelligence operations across the Intelligence Community. The NCS supports our country's security and foreign policy interests by conducting clandestine activities to collect information that is not obtainable through other means. The NCS also conducts counterintelligence and special activities as authorised by the President.
