    Comedians...

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Toritoes, Dec 21, 2008.

Who's yer favourite comedian (assuming that you have one/enjoy people ranting about life and it's miseries!) and whats yer favourite quote?

I'm quite in love with Dylan Moran - hence the picture.. - I've seen him live twice and i love him in black books, one of my favourite quotes being:

    Manny: I'll write to you
    Bernard: I won't read it..
    Manny: Well i'll call you..
    Bernard: I'll hang up..
Manny: I'll come round to see you then..
Bernard: I'll be dead by then.

    Legendary stuff lol :D

Demetri Martin makes me laugh so hard! "Glitter is the herpes of craft supplies. Once you get it on you, it never goes away."

There was another one we saw on tv whose name I can't remember. "Sarcastic parents make for mouthy kids." This has become the slogan of my family. :p

    Mitch Hedberg.

He talked about the stuff that matters.

"I love escalators, 'cause escalators can never break. They can only become stairs. That's why you never see an 'Escalator Temporarily Out of Order' sign. Only an 'Escalator Temporarily Stairs. Sorry for the Convenience'."

"I saw a commercial that said 'You can water your hard-to-reach plants with this product'. Who the hell would make their plants hard-to-reach? It seems so very mean. 'I know you need water, but I'm going to make you hard-to-reach. I will throw water at you. Hopefully they will invent a product before you shrivel and die'."

There are just too many classic quotes to mention.

Woody Allen. A comedic genius. One of several. His combination of self effacing and sarcastic wit is blinding.

I also love Margaret Cho and Chelsea Handler.

I'd say Demetri Martin for sure though.

Mitchell and Webb are my favourite comedians :D

I also love Lee Evans, Russell Howard, Dara O'brien, Stephen Fry and Stephen K Amos (there are probably loads more that I've forgotten, but they'll do for starters).

Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie was my kind of thing, I think they wrote it together. I love the latest things Hugh has done, specially 'House'--but he's not exactly being a 'comedian' there, although there's a lot of humour in it. Funny how he suffers from depression in real life--like a lot of other famous comedians have done, e.g. Tony Hancock

It's all about the magic trio! Dylan Moran, Bill Bailey & Lee Evans!!! (<-- an exclaimation mark for each)

I've seen Bill Bailey and Lee Evans in concert but sadly was detained from seeing Moran in november. Luckily got some more tickets for february so can finally decide on my favourite and make an informed decision! :)

I like Stephen Fry and Michael MacIntrye too but the crowning three take the biscuit!!

Ditto. There is no comparison to Lee Evans.
