Developing my character - ask me anything

Discussion in 'Character Development' started by S Raven, Aug 5, 2015.

Not sure if this is going to work or not...

My main character in my novel needs a bit more development.
Edit: I thought it would be fun if someone asks a question, the person answers it and asks another question.

    Lets see how this goes.

Do you ever feel like there's someone watching your every move, guessing at your every thought, and writing it all down for the titillation of other weirdos?

Sorry ;) Here's a popular thread with a similar idea:

I think you'll get more bites if you turn it into a back-and-forth game that others can also benefit from.

You mean like one person asks a question and the other person replies as a MC, then they ask a question for the next poster? We're directly talking to each other's MCs? Interesting concept. I'll give it a try:

So, Sam, what is your one goal in life that you will stop at nothing to achieve?

It's my duty to travel back in time and prevent the annihilation of mankind.

What negative personality traits do I have?

Assuming we're going to do what I think we're doing..

Mishu Jerni: Well, I'm too rash from what I've heard. I rely on my emotions more than my thinking...whatever that means. I think someone even said I'm snippy and easily irritated? Heh, well they don't know me very well, then.

What was the earliest memory you have, and were they good or bad??

EDIT: Better idea, why don't we all use our characters to talk to each other? That way we can really delve deeply into how our characters would respond to each other. So I'll rephrase my question to the way Mishu would've asked it: “Out of curiosity, what was the earliest thing you can remember in your life? You can tell me to shove it if it was painful, I get it.”

I'm not sure I've grasped the Q&A but here goes :(

What was the earliest memory you have, and were they good or bad??

Bad. I remember I had an elder brother who used to poke fun at me because I have a deformed leg. He no longer lives at home and nobody mentions him. When I ask about him everyone goes quiet and they start talking about something else. I must have been about three at the time because I remember my sister being born and people fussing round her and he wasn't around then.

    How long ago was that?

I don't know, I have traveled back and forth in time so often I don't even know how old I am anymore.

Can you tell me when mankind's descent towards annihilation seemed to have started?
