I have been so busy with spell bound and pheonixes new rpg I haven't had time to focus on good ol new Hope. I'll get a post up soon. The NCF Meeting hasn't happened yet right?
Well, it looks like the rebel meeting has run its course. If everyone is in agreement, my next post will move us to the action.
I hope I didn't seem like I was just going over the same ground as the briefing again. I didn't feel like it was up to me to say that we were boarding yet, but I did want to post and establish the team and plan a little better. If the part about the straightaway and the tunnel are wrong, I can edit them!
Sounds exactly right. You did great. Only reason I didn't write the boarding is because I want to give LtW a chance to write. As a pilot, she won't be involved in most of what goes on after we've boarded, so I'm trying to give her as much input now as possible.
That's what i was thinking too! Glad we're on the same page! Also glad this game is picking up again, I was afraid it was on its way into obscurity, which would suck! It's alot of fun!
Yeeeeah... I noticed that when I was writing my post. But no worries. FM will show up in due time. There's no hurry and we'll try not to charge in until you guys arrive on the scene and get settled in.
Everyone really favors the rebellion in this game. It kinda makes sense... Maybe we should start fleshing out some more adept NCF NPC's to bring a little more challenge than mowing down hapless guardsmen. What do you all think of that?
I think the real problem is that we seem to have a clear cut bad guy. In my story both sides make good points, and boths side are morally un sound. But here it seems the NCF are clearly the bad guys . I think the rebels need some moral fualts as well so people don't feel there being evil for joining the NCF. Do you understand what I am saying?
I think Exzalia hit the nail on the head. There just aren't many redeeming factors to the NCF. They come across as needless bullies and bigots. I tried to counter this by making my character a needless bully and bigot who sides with the rebels, to prove both sides can be nasty. But it seems like events are conspiring to slowly soften her into a decent person. I find that things often take that turn in RPGs; the "evil for evil's sake" guys usually die out or slowly turn into good guys. Based on the way the previous mission went, it looks like the NCF is on the "die out" side of things. I tried to help them by giving them the upper hand in this battle, despite having less PCs on their side. But the fact still remains: it's hard to find much to like about the NCF.
Yeah. I don't know what we could really do about that unless there was some pretty serious upheaval. Maybe when Seawolf gets back we could try and figure something out with him.
well I have some ideas for the NCF that might help the demographic out a bit. We all know humans have no natural abilities. Perhaps thier short life spans, combined with inferior natural traits, like no magic would fuel a sense of superiority among the other fantasy races thus justifying the hatred some humans have for them.
It's kind of difficult as the NCF were established as the bad guys in sea wolfs original post. Humans hunting down fairytale creatures, it's hard to side with the humans. Why not add some history to the rebels that makes them dislikeable? Killing civillians or something.
Sounds like you need a bad guy.... I did say I wanted to join this game, but I was quite busy at the time. However my own RPG has lost momentum so I think I'll write up a character and make sure I catch up with the story. Do I post my character bio to Seawolf or you AnonyMouse?
Send it to Sea Wolf, Fox. I'm just the stand-in. He said he'll be checking his messages, he just doesn't have time to write long posts and such. Either way, he should be back to GMing things Monday. @ Mr Mr That's pretty much what I was going for when I created Black Death and Indira's character. She believes the fantasy creatures are clearly superior and looks down on humans as an inferior race that must be abolished for the sake of progress (yup, even civilians). Hence the reason she hates half-elves; they're holding us back by copulating with lesser species and corrupting the gene pool. Unfortunately, the Rebellion doesn't prescribe to that ideology. They're pure "good guys" who believe in the right of all species to live and will tenaciously defend that right. Thus far, the NCF hasn't shown a good reason for wanting to subjugate the non-humans. They just come across as meanies who woke up one morning and said "hey, let's start a war." If the NCF has some kind of deeper motivation that has been kept secret, it would really help balance things out.
I see opportunity here. Kate has been begging to figure out what started this war in the first place. Maybe she discovers a nasty rebel secret and switches to the NCF! I smell story potential Some one has to tell seadog this stuff, I bet he'll be impressed. Hell I think he may have something like this planed already and we just don't know it.
Hence the reason she hates half-elves; they're holding us back by copulating with lesser species and corrupting the gene pool. Poor Kelly. I'm actually glad I made her a half-elf...makes things more interesting.
Um guys I know you're all excited to start the mission. But FM is not here, so it's just...Kate Hmm... Bah forgett it, Kates going to give you the fight of your LIVES! I'll just say her commander told her that the sucsess of this mission will determin if they trust her. Muhahahah, I'm going to throw everything at you, prepare your selfs!
Okay I have to go for a bit but I'll be back, rebels write your response! Or better yet surrender, you can't win this fight. Kate is in her element
