I just used that excuse to explain Alaz's absence. You can look at his current medical state to tell how well that worked out.
Okay then, those whose participation in the preceding battle was not mentioned (Trucido, Scarlett, Juniper, Neil and anyone else I missed) were attacked by an enormous eagle (5 feet tall when standing, 17-foot wingspan) that attacked them about the time Zeb entered the fray against the young Lagomorph. They wound it, but it escapes alive with the mother Lagomorph. Trucido and Juniper have both been wounded (you decide the details). By the way, Acglaphotis had to quit (but may join again later), so I shall be running Neil in the meantime.
I vote that it grabs juniper and Trucido and neil and scarlet (one t please, shes odd that way) chase it. They wound it and it flies away, and then Alaz comes crashing through the trees nearby and they help him. Let's do that.
This week has been hell on my RPing. Marching Band on monday and tuesday, 900 word essay today, band and a b day party tomorrow, but hopefully some free time tomorrow. I vote that Juniper posts about the eagle. Just don't forget that Scarlet can basically fly and throw giant fire balls and Trucido uses electricity and knives. Just have the eagle knock him out, grab him and niel, and fly off. Scarlet won't use fire on it because she could burn the others so she flies Juniper up there and Juniper kills it. I could post that friday afternoon if need be, but that's a while away...
I was going to suggest that they fell behind and got caught 'making out' by the acrobat kid. But I guess a giant eagle works too...
Mobious, it's gone. It took its child's carcass and left. Edit: also, I added a prompt for Aaliyah. It's not much, but you can fill in any details. Edit2: Okay, that came out with more language than I intended. Also, you guys really should have listened to Binnacorn.
Not my fault, neither of my characters were at the inn. And neither of them fought the enemies. So... I can finally post tonight! I'll be on in about 9 hours time; 4:00 Eastern time.
Hey Mobious, I just posted and implied that Zeb and Rainin had a disagreement on the mountain after the bunny left with Aali. At this point he thinks the rest of the group sucks and plans to go find the wizard without them, and on his own if he must. Maybe you could edit your mis-post to fill in the conflict between them? He's hot headed and stubborn but still respects Zeb and will probably go back for him with Aali if that's what she and Thydore want to do.
Okay, time to post. Dustin, I get the feeling that you haven't GM'd much. And Mobious and LostHawken, I get the feeling that you guys haven't RP'd much.
I it really that obvious? No, I haven't done so more than twice, and both were loose at best. Any tips?
You know what's ironic? My character was the only one who wanted to let the damn thing be and continue onward, and he's the only one who has sustained any serious injury from it. I bet Dustin did that on purpose. And why the hell is Alaz still lying unaided in a pool of his own blood? (BTW, the broken glass is from the various trinkets and baubles of mechanical and/or magical nature that Alaz carries around, along with a jar of his own venom. I can't decide if this jar should be broken or not and whether its contents should be seeping into his wounds or not.)
I landed nearby, so my chars will help soon. Since we have no healers whatsoever you'll probably be cauterized by fire and lightning It's a bit obvious. I've been comparing you to other Gm's like anonymouse. Tips: 1. When introducing enemies, make sure there are enough enemies to go around. Ex: Rather than having one lion attack the group, have a whole pride attack. That way, each player can have fun fighting, rather than whoever happens to be on at the time. 2. Do not tell characters what happens to them. Ex: Rather than saying "Then, the creature vomits you up." say "The creature then vomited the girl up." Stay in third person omniscient. 3. Set Basic Goals. Ex: I've found that other RPGs are split into basic parts. When a group arrives at a new scene the GM gives a basic intro post and describes the new situation. They also give some basic goals like "Interact with others" "Sleep, rest up, eat, prepare for tomorrow" "Fend off the lions, but remember that the huntsman is your main target" 4: Interact. Ex: Make sure that you always give characters a chance to interact. If they don't want to, make them. Introduce an NPC that forces conversation upon the group. 5: Avoid Cliches. Ex: If you are going to have an alien attack the group, make it new and original. Do not copy the alien from Alien or Area 9. Make something new. The same goes with quests. Don't copy things. Cliches bore the players. 6: Keep things moving, but not too fast. Ex: Don't ever let the RPG begin to die, because it will die. There are few remedies for a broken RPG. But don't work it too hard. If it progresses too quickly it will end premeturly and won't seem to have fulfilled the purpose. 7: The Almighty Holy Rule Number 7: BE EVIL Ex: While you may have characters that are nice, you are also in control of every villain and enemy. Give the players some freedom to fight their own battles, but be sure to decide how the battle goes. Don't let all the character get out of the dragon fight scotch free, someone needs to get clawed and someone needs to get burned and another needs to get slammed by a tail. And characters need to be total ass holes. Don't throw the group into the dungeon, throw them into the pit of lava filled with giant fire breathing fire ants with titanium exoskeletons. Don't attack them with a broad sword, attack with a giant freaking 10' sword made of adamantium that shoots fireballs. I hope my lesson in RPGing has been helpful Of course... I'm a relatively new RP'r and haven't GM'd before... Although, I am planning on GMing my own game as soon as marching season is over.
Come on, people! Do I have to pull out the Deus ex Machina already or are one of you going to save me?
Thanks for the advice, Honor. Ab, I did what I could to help you using Neil. Which isn't much with the state they are both in. Also, Eden had to drop out. Anyone interested in a second character?
Nice job with the objectives Dustin. I think that may help. Alright, Scarlet is going to come help Alaz and Neil, and then we're going to go find the others. I'm noticing how much we really need a healer... I'm thinking of just having Scarlet happen to be good at healing. It would make sense since she comes from a family of body guards. And I would take on a second Char, but I already did. And I can't handle three of them...
Aight that's what I can do for today, doubtful I'll be on tomorrow, just have Rainin tag along, and no more stuttering like a coward! And btw I am VERY new at this but I don't see what I'm missing Honor. A lil' help?
Mostly just that Rainin seems totally uncooperative, but still has respect for part of the group, which is odd. That and that his actions feel odd. It may just be me or your writing style, but it feels odd.
