There was a previously-unmentioned rockslide that pinned half the party. It's not the most glamorous of plot-hole fillers, but it will do. Or if you can think of something better, use that.

Dustin, can I make up something about some other monster attacking? Like some big bird or something? Because Trucido can semi fly with green fire and scarlet can fly, so something like a rockslide doesn't work. And saying they were scared or startled doesn't fit the character...
