@GingerCoffee - Obviously there is a huge difference between the UK and the USA. That captain's bed thing. I don't know what they'd call that here. But that's not a divan bed. A divan bed is a mattress on a wooden frame containing drawers (or not)—but the frame is covered in fabric—often padded as well, to look like upholstery. It's the fabric cover that makes it a 'divan.' And the chaise longue? Here you go... https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=chaise+longue+sofa+bed&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0CD4QsARqFQoTCNfN7bPL-MgCFczXFAodxoIKig&biw=1138&bih=749 Maybe we don't have a name for those poolside thingys because we don't have pools? No, here in the UK actually they are called 'pool chairs' or (ha ha, dream on) 'sun loungers.' https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=chaise+longue+sofa+bed&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0CD4QsARqFQoTCNfN7bPL-MgCFczXFAodxoIKig&biw=1138&bih=749#tbm=isch&q=pool+chair+bed
No doubt. So...what do you call a bed that has a mattress atop a deep wooden frame covered in upholstered fabric that contains drawers?
But it obviously IS complicated! Depending on where you live, anyway. If you write that a character is sleeping on a divan bed, you need to be aware that not everybody is going to be picturing the same thing. As a result of all my googling, my pop-up ads on my computer now all feature different kinds of beds! Woo. Maybe I'll go out and buy several, right now. Differing shapes and sizes.
