Somebody needs to make a fountian pen that lets you write on actual paper, and at the same time transcribes it onto your computer as text. Elon? Are you listening?
I'll stick with my laptop, and scrivener. Highlight and delete if faster than any eraser. Scrivener let's me rearrange things without rewriting, And best of all I Don't have to transcribe everything.
The transcribing/editing process is one of the main things I like about writing on pen and paper. Second to the fact that I write better and more creatively that way.
That would be cool. I know some companies, like Moleskine, have systems that allow for this sort of thing but I think you're limited to using their 'smart' pen.
It's not either/or, I do both, I even do typewriters. Quills are too much of a pain though, I don't think I could ever get used to them. Writing longhand always forces you to slow down, which you might need sometimes (think revision). I know for a fact Nabokov ended up with his gorgeous sentences by using this very method (and working the hell out of each sentence, which you can appreciate clearly on how carefully he chose every word). For daily use, when it's about first draft and word count, nothing beats the notebook's keyboard (Until maybe Elon Musk will come up with something even better for us? Some sort of neural device)
