Due to circumstantial nudity (some erotic) in scenes, I need a model just so I know what goes where in action. For example a character emerges from a disaster with clothing torn away. Until I found a model, my POV had the poor girl facing forward with breast and arms backward! I also compile a photo docket(?) for each character I describe in different points of view, especially main characters. It's tedious and sometimes intimidating, so I would really like to learn to draw, or find an app equivalent to the cops old school face ID kit.
Interesting thread. I've got a character who I visualise as Freema Agyeman. This was mainly because the character came already with her attitude and mannerisms when she was playing Martha Jones, and her aesthetic really worked for the character too. Another character I visualise based on somebody I used to work with who had quite a distinctive appearance and build, and with whom he also shares a first name. Another is based on someone who goes to my gym, and about whom I know nothing, but his clothing, build and features fit with the character, but the personality is all a creation (and a slight self-insert, though I'm trying to limit the extent of that). I find this helps to flesh the characters out, but I do try to develop them first before associating them with real people, as the risk otherwise would be that they would become that person instead of the character they were original intended to be. I can't really visualise faces very well, least of all the face of a person who doesn't actually exist, so it's helpful to me to associate characters with a real person.
Not intentionally, but I often find myself imagining some actor for my character. It does make it easier when you have a face for the name, whether through art or "casting". And no, it's not bad to do. If it helps you, it's fine.
1. I do. I wanna get good mach with these⦠- habitus - essence of personality - identity or identities - voice (means very much) - rythm of moving, speaking, social activity... - moral compass or at leas the impression of it. 2. Do what is working for you. 3. Nice to meet other autistic persons in my first visit here. I try to keep all background work wide, deep and loose. Wide & deep gives me good structure. Loose lets me use my imagination and creativity.
