    Do you play an instrument?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Lyssa, Apr 1, 2009.

Anyone? I play the flute, and am learning the pic.

I play the bass guitar as my main instrument and I'm learning how to play an acoustic guitar. I don't play well at all, though, I just play for fun with my "band".

My boyfriend tries to teach me stuff on his guitar now and then. My hands are really small, so I have trouble making the chords. I don't think it's the instrument for me.

His parents have a recording studio set up in their spare bedroom, and we've been going to their house on the weekends and recording. Him on guitar, me on vocals. And I also get to play with drum beats on the computer. It's so much fun, the recording process.

I think that once we have a decent number of songs, we might recruit a drummer and start playing shows. Holy crap, that would make my life.

I used to have a guitar, sold it since I never really played it.

My fav instrument when i was younger was the plastic recorder, just blow really hard and you are guaranteed to annoy your parents nice and good ;) Yes, my sister and I actually got out recorders taken away from us on several occasions, until they mysteriously disappeared. We found them years later, but then my mom threw them away for good.

I play alto clarinet, and occasionally recorder and piano. I don't practice as much as I'd like, but there are only so many hours in the day, and work, family and writing to fit in...

I play trumpet, and I'd like to learn how to play drums. I can play Expert on Rock Band...if that counts for anything.

Well, I think Rock Band drums are more similar to actual drums than the Rock Band guitar is to actual guitar.

I have an acoustic guitar, and I'm wanting to go electric. Every time I get to play an electric guitar for a little while and then have to go back to acoustic... They're so dissimilar in sound and feel, they may as well be classified as completely different instruments. That probably won't make sense unless you've actually tried both... and knew what you were doing. :p

I, too have an acoustic guitar. One of the little ones, and he's blue. I can play Yankee Doodle and that's about it. Mostly I just take him out and admire the blueness.
I intend to learn the piano when I can afford lessons.

I once took lessons to play the harmonica (Larry Adler = genius, but I was leaning more towards blues). 'Bout the only thing on it I can remember to do now is the train chug-whistle-mimic thing....

I played the flute in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade, concert band. Haven't played in forever, gave the flute away to a cousin that is all about music.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I own both. Not a single song a play on the electric can really be converted to acoustic. I love the sounds of both though. I also play bass and dabble on the drums and mandolin. I just love how the mandolin sounds, especially with an acoustic guitar. I like the folksy stuff.

I play guitar (I have 6, both electric and acoustic), piano, mandolin, ukulele and I can keep a rhythm on the drums.

I was working on my own album at one point, but ended up finding it difficult to find suitable musicians to help out. Fun times!

    Thats cool!

I've been playing since 5th grade, and like I said, am learning...or want to learn....the piccolo, but it's hard! I am hoping to march next year, I'll find out Monday, I really hope I can! I used to play piano, but hated it so I quit. I don't remember anything.

I play oboe, flute, guitar, piano (badly), and I sing. I'm best at oboe, however. I was a music major, and I also have produced two of my own pop/folk albums. Thank goodness for drum machines! Heh.

I'm never satisfied with an instrument. I used to play piano when I was a kid. Got bored of that, so I played violin for a few months. Hated that. I played saxophone and snare drum in elementary school, and played the sax and xylophone in high school. I'm also taking drum lessons right now. I currently play the clarinet in our school's concert band. (just got back from a performance a couple hours ago actually!)

in elementary i was quite good with the dulcimer. currently, i'm working on learning the piano, which is quite similar. but i've always wanted to learn the piccolo :D

When I was a nipper I had a miniature drum kit which I was pretty decent with. It was confiscated when the neighbours complained about me making too much noise when I was about 7.

I currently own an acoustic guitar, which is very out of tune. I've barely played it in about a year, as I'm not very good.
