This is the lounge, which is off subject material, right? I made a packet of ramen with chicken flavoring (they recently changed their packaging) and it just looked and tasted different. When I boiled the noodles, the water was 10x murkier than it usually is, and it was a weird, gross looking color. Am I going crazy?
I'm going to spell this wrong, but.. Maruchan? The basic Ramen brand in the orange plastic wraps haha
I can't find anything immediately online suggesting an ingredient change in that brand, but I did find a couple sources swearing Sapporo Ichiban might be a tastier brand.
Okay. So that's what I thought you were going to say. I've been very confused, because I haven't seen any of the variation in flavors that I used to ... only chicken or beef. And yeah, it tastes different, and I always thought the packaging looked off. Then I realized that this is the brand in grocery stores now, but I think the brand I remember from 1995-2000ish was actually this one: (shrimp flavor was my favorite as a weird adolescent ) I'm not a Ramen connoisseur or anything, but back in the day these guys were like, 40 for a dollar, and my mom was a single mom. So lots of Ramen.
Well, this is interesting. I buy a Morrison's own brand ramen, and yes, they have recently changed theirs as well. Chicken flavour, weird colour. It's actually rather unpleasant, so I've started using half a Kallo brand organic chicken stock cube instead of the flavour packet inside the ramen container.
Having recently graduated from college, I will share with you the two things I've learned during my time there: (1) Beer is both a staple food and one of the three macronutrients alongside pizza and Maruchan Ramen; and (2) If a package of Maruchan Ramen looks bad, throw it out, unless it only looks the normal amount of bad, in which case I'd still recommend buying a different brand.
