I say depends of your worlds culture. If you created a country where religion molds people's mind then yes, religion is important. Can also explain some culture's past, and evolution. You can always have a country that was religious, however because of a disaster or goverment they had to become non religious.
They pick the gun because it is there? I guess if it was not there it would something else? which may slow them down in their quest to do bad things. What is a horse sense?
Vicars do talk a load of crap. I mean that must be undeniable. The circular sentencing with the conclusion 'if man is not man, what is man but for God?' The heads in the pews nod, up and down and they remain down. ... Clerics earn their money when people die. That's quite confusing. When you are so alone and your wife or your husband has died they will befriend you, so...
What do horses have? Do you mean they can sense danger humans can't? I mean I have seen it in movies.
Haha true. I use to know a catholic priest who use to be my ex mother in law's boyfriend. He was a raging alcoholic. He had big issues from his past to do with his catholic schooling which apparently was horrrble. He was fed them rice everyday and so to this he won't touch rice. One sunday morning we went to mass and he was attending the service. When the priest started ''dishing it out'' the communion, bread and wine, which I do/did not partake in, he was helping himself to wine all the way through in full view of the congregation. It was rather embarrassing to watch.
I wish I could. I am a bit intimated by them. It is their height I think. The last time I was anywhere near a horse is when someone I knew was going riding. I got near the horse but then got a bit scared. I know they kick alright so I was taking no chances haha Do you own a horse?
What am I in for ?LOL How interesting. So you give them something to eat first so they can build a trust. I have never thought about it.
I have no idea what you are on about Alan - theres are no straw men in my post and I asked you a simple set of questions (and so your don't think xyz is a question ) which illustrate my original point - if you prefer not to answer them that's fine, but lets not pretend its something its not. I also think you are being deliberately obtuse - yes politics is defined as a you say above but my point is that the execution of politics is or at least is often about power Just as per the subject of this thread organised religion is often about power (incidentally the shifting of the focus from the subject to the participants is not a strawman argument - its what's known as an ad hominem , although I haven't done that either)
Ooh, I know. The Canary Islands, cause no one is allowed to live there. However in history, communist countries try to rid themselves of religion, but it never gets rid of it entirely. Pretty sure you can look that up about places like Russia and China if you wish.
China has no formal religion and brutally supress their other religious minorities - ditto North Korea
Looked up North Korea and apparently I quote ''Buddhism and Confucianism and to a lesser extent Korean shamanism and syncretic Chondogyo. '' whatever that means. There is also a christian minority.
yes - all of which are viciously supressed by the state.. openly practicing any religion will get you sent to the camps
LOL what a strange thing to do repressing people because of religion. Where is the sense in that? and why if anything?
Well, you read around the subject, there's all the Buddhist, Confusion elements, & the 'state' religion. But as @Moose alludes in his way some of the most diabolical horror stories emanate from N Korea. The observed gassing of a family springs to mind.
