I was going to say - would a military unit survive the kind of personal tension that the OP is suggesting?

Let's see... Luke is in love with Leia. Leia is in love with Han. Han is in lust with Leia. Chewie is in love with Han. R2 is in love with Luke. Nobody loves C3PO.

In fact, no. I don't want to give George Lucas any ideas.

    It just wouldn't happen

for one the chain of command would never wear it - you can't be in a relationship with someone under your command because it doesn't help unit cohesion if you don't treat everyone the same

and for another doing your comrade's partner is a big no no... it does happen very occasionally, but to have it happening multiple times in one unit is beyond the realms of possibility.

and thirdly when you're on active service you leave your personal life at the door... you can't be thinking about how much you love corporal whois but its so hard because she's with sergeant thingy when you're supposed to be thinking about not getting your ass shot off.

Now given the OP is writing a romance and doesn't care at all about accuracy or realism that's fine - you look at something like Cocky Marine (Faileena) nothing in that book is remotely accurate either... she even has marines referring to themselves as soldiers.
