The are around the Sangay volcano is some of the most fertile ground in Ecuador, and it attracts some of the most fascinating wild life. The presence of the volcano also allows for the option of geothermal energy to be harvested from the land instead of using solar power if desired. We are talking about 2014 not 79 AD. Scientist are able to see the warning signs of a volcano and tell the people when they are in serious danger. In accordance of that, that is what insurance is for.
It's as if you want to see the idea fail. I don't get it. I've done a lot of research on Ecuador, A LOT, and insurance would be more than affordable.
on the contrary, lew!... as a lover/proponent of all things natural, i'd love to see your dream community become a reality... which is why i am concerned about locating it in an area that is as safe as possible... and my insurance comment was only a joking one, in re getting insurance on buildings and such in a volcanic zone...
I'm sorry I took your questions out of context. After doing more and more reading, the volcano is actually located thousands and thousands of miles above the basin. There is actually a protected zone around the volcano for the safety of the residents, and climbers are no allowed to climb to the peak. No for the bad news. Kickstarter does not allow people to use the funds to purchase real estate. I would have to either find a way to buy the land on my own, or find someone else to purchase it and rent it to the commune.
that would put it in another country, on another continent, or another planet!... did you mean 'feet' or 'meters'? sorry to hear you kickstarter plan is a no-go... guess you'll have to seek a wealthy patron...
