Eddie Murphy Is Good, There I Said It!

Discussion in 'Entertainment' started by Mike Hill, Aug 6, 2014.

Didn't mean to shout, but I think title was funnier with !
This idea came to my head when I realized I know only one person besides me who actively read books and likes Eddie Murphy's movies.
Do you like him as a actor? Do like at least some of his movies?
I could explain why most of his movies are good, but that's were the language border comes so I hope you give your argument and I respond:)

I liked him very much in his early days -- Saturday Night Live and his early films were pretty good, actually. Later on, when he started making movies that were more for his kids, I didn't enjoy them so much. But I don't think anyone can argue that he lacks talent.

He was excellent. Frequently hilarious in stand-up and in the movies. Unfortunately, this ceased to be true at some point around 1995.

I always liked the guy, but I haven't seen anything of his in a long time.

This was just about the time he was swallowed by the media machine known as Disney.

He's alright. At times I can find him hilarious, other times I just want him off my screen.

I was a fan of his in the 80s. Beverly Hills Cop, Trading Places, etc. were really fun movies.

Now it's all fat suits. Blah.

The way Eddie would tell a joke during his movies was humorous.

I love 'Trading Places' and 'Coming to America', 'Beverly Hills Cop' and all his early stand ups (never watched 'Saturday Night Live') and I didn't mind 'The Nutty Professor' but everything since then is meh.

Eddie Murphy is an amazing comedian especially when he was younger. His stand-up shows, Delirious and Raw, are amazing and some of the funniest I have ever seen. His early movies in the 80s (Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop, Coming to America) are classics. Then he had a couple weak movies (Beverly Hills Cop 3, Vampire in Brooklyn) and then he went to family movies. I think he has some funny moments in the family movies, but I think he is more natural in an adult setting where he doesn't have to limit his language and content.
