"I am going to admit, what we are doing is the morally right thing, you may think we're crazy and hypocritical, but in all honesty, its right. This world has suffered too much darkness, and we're going to set that straight, if its hypocritical, at least we're getting the job done. The other thing though, I'm not sure why you'd think that. Over the past time we've spent together, its only us that's changed, and because you've been in the darkness, paranoia is striking you down. Overpower it, its not your master." Lye stared at the one talking. "You think stopping the evil that has, the darkness that has come upon this land is going to make the world any more safer," Lye said, "In the next one hundred years or maybe even sooner then that another great threat will come upon our land, we aren't saving anything we just have this thought....that we have to save everything, we have this moral right this our land and we must protect it, the world doesn't work that way." Lye then lowered her eyes into a narrow glare. "It isn't about what I am paranoid about that is stopping me, it's the complete and total air of idiotness that is flooding around," Lye said.
"Wouldn't you rather save 100 years of hope and light, than spend an eon in fear and darkness. We do this for the sake of hope and prosperity." He then looked around, the air had grown much quieter since then. Then he looked back to Lye when she spoke. "It isn't about what I am paranoid about that is stopping me, it's the complete and total air of idiotness that is flooding around." "Not all of us are idiots, and those that are smart will help, protect, and guide you along the way. If you mean just Atrius, you get used to it."
"Huh? What is it, mate?" "I . . . I need a drink," Luke said, embarrassed by the way he was acting. He couldn't help himself, though. It wasn't a matter of what he wanted. This was something he needed, and he felt as if he couldn't live without it. Maybe he just got addicted to things far too easily. Even Atrius wasn't this bad, was he? "A drink? A drink at a time like this? Shouldn't we be packing up, getting ready to leave?" Sven was talking to him again. Why couldn't he just shut up and leave him alone? He didn't know what it was like. Lucas ignored him, shaking his head and turning back to Atrius.
"Sure, whatever you need." He said, and handed Lucas the little metal flask, still in the threshold between lucidity and unconsciousness that follows being woken up unexpectedly. "You look awful, man. What time is it?" He yawned and tried to look around, still seeing things blurry. He noticed his head was, to the extent it could be after being woken up, not hurting. Huh, an unexpected perk of opium.
"Wouldn't you rather save 100 years of hope and light, than spend an eon in fear and darkness. We do this for the sake of hope and prosperity." Lye stared at him. "I'm certainly not afraid of the demons, I'm certainly not afraid of what they could do," Lye paused, "They are the more extreme of what any normal person would be able to do, I see no purpose in this ethical idea that we have to save the world." Lye gave a quick glance to the ground. "Not all of us are idiots, and those that are smart will help, protect, and guide you along the way. If you mean just Atrius, you get used to it." "None of you know how to truly save someone or protect anything,"
"I'm certainly not afraid of the demons, I'm certainly not afraid of what they could do," Lye paused, "They are the more extreme of what any normal person would be able to do, I see no purpose in this ethical idea that we have to save the world." "I never said you were afraid of anything Lye, you're a powerful warrior, like the rest of us, but you're being too stubborn in the fact that darkness isn't the answer for this world, light needs to shine on it every once in a while." "None of you know how to truly save someone or protect anything," "we can try," he said extending his hand, "don't be afraid of us, we do the best we can and carry on, join us in this conquest, I ask this of you not as a warrior, or a leader, but as a friend."
"we can try," he said extending his hand, "don't be afraid of us, we do the best we can and carry on, join us in this conquest, I ask this of you not as a warrior, or a leader, but as a friend." Lye was taken aback by this. She stared at him again. Friends, friends. They barely knew each other, friends was a mutual relationship created over many years not just a small conversation. "Can you consider us friends when we haven't created a stable mutual relationship?" Lye asked. Lye stared at the hand, she didn't want people to come into her world and shake it all up. That is what people did in her past experiences. How did she know it wasn't going to happen again? More hypocritical thinkers, more ethics, more morals. How more could she let in? This felt like the same thing with the elven ones who hide in the forest. She was slightly uneasy and on edge. And maybe that read in her eyes.
He looked into her eyes, they showed uneasiness, fear maybe. He krinkled his eyebrows a bit. "I can tell you're a bit shaken up, but yes I do consider you a friend, I know we haven't talked much, but even then I'm your friend," he pointed towards the camp, "and those are your friends too."
"Sure, whatever you need." "Thanks," Lucas mumbled, taking the flask from Atrius. He unscrewed the cap and drank half of it without even considering the fact that it didn't belong to him. He was just so thirsty! "You look awful, man. What time is it?" "Oh, I'd say about an hour until dawn. We'll leave soon. Go ahead and pack." Luke smiled in thanks again and regretfully handed the man back his flask. "We're so close to Dyan." He went about waking the others, shaking them. Annaleigh jumped up immediately, ready to be gone, and she had her belongings packed and ready to go in an instant. The others weren't as fast. "Come on, Deathblade, Lye, let's go," Luke said when he had reached the two.
Len quickly got up, ready to go. He had an awful night of sleep and was ready to finally be moving on in their adventure. "Let's get going," Len said softly, joining the others that were already ready to go.
He went about waking the others "Mmmm..." Incendia said with a yawn and a stretch as she was awaken by the sounds of the others waking up. "Time to go then?"
Agnorth, who, in his sleepless state, had plopped on the hardest patch of ground out of the entire camp, was less than eager to get up. "mumble mumble minutes, mom..."
Lucas was more than ready to be gone, so he took the lead immediately. Dyan was only a few hours away, and he didn't plan on wasting the day away in some forest. He was ready to find a ship, cross the sea, and close the damned portal once and for all. Being a hero was difficult, but it sure seemed worth it. Luke's readiness to leave irritated Annaleigh. In his haste, he had left everyone behind, herself included. She had been trying to wake up the members of the party who were still sound asleep; Gloria, Atrius, and a few others were still just lying there. "Come on, Atrius, get up. It's time we were gone. Luke is leaving you behind," she said, hoping to coax the necromancer out of his lazy state. But Anna didn't even know why she bothered. If she hadn't said anything, Lucas would have left Atrius behind. Was that such a bad thing? Regardless, she felt as though no one should be left behind, Atrius especially. He'd been nice enough so far. "Come, now, get up."
Deathblade looked over to the sounds of the waking camp, people were trying to get others up, and he could swear he saw someone in a hurry to reach the city. He looked back to Lye, still in her startled state. "Its time to go," his hand was still extended, hoping for the other party to reach it, "would you kindly join us?"
*Yawn* "I guess i had better get Sven out of that circle" Incendia said to herself aloud. She looked around, people were milling about, but she couldn't find Deathblade anywhere. "Where could that fool be?" she thought to herself as she walked over to Sven and released him.
"I can't believe you almost forgot that guy Lucas," Len said, referring to Sven, catching up quickly with their leader, falling into a pace equal and just behind Luke. Len was looking forward to Dyan. Even if he couldn't claim Barobarg's treasure, he wanted to see what shape the town was in. New places were always an exciting thing.
"Come, now, get up." "Huh~..." Atrius said, yawning. "What? Leaving? Oh man." Atrius got up and picked up his things, which included: His vest, that he used to cover himself at night; his flask and a boot that had somehow left his foot. So, Dyan, eh? It could be as bad as the previous town? Maybe they had actual civilization...
Lye stared at the hand more and then the group was starting to wake up and begin a move on. Lye walked passed Death, snapped her fingers and Heiser and Lorel got up both happy as can be. "I don't touch other people's hands...though if you want you can walked beside Heiser he enjoys the attention and walking beside Heiser is as close as you are going to get to me," Lye said.
"I don't touch other people's hands...though if you want you can walked beside Heiser he enjoys the attention and walking beside Heiser is as close as you are going to get to me," Lye said. He dropped his hand and chuckled a little, "fair enough," he walked next to the dog and patted it on the head, woman were strange, they show so many emotions in such little time. Even then, Lye was going to re-join the group, and not hide in the shadows, he at least accomplished something. When they finally got to the campsite a good amount of the people were already gone, all that was left was Incendia who was releasing Sven, Agnorth who was still sleeping, and Anna who was trying to wake Atrius. "Look who I found," he said pointing to Lye and her pets.
"Excuse me you never found me," Lye said, "I just finally decided to walk alongside hypocrites." Lye stared at Lorel who was now coming. Heiser on the other hand was now chasing Death's hand as it swung around. Heiser wanted more attention he was really just a big baby.
"Excuse me you never found me," Lye said, "I just finally decided to walk alongside hypocrites." "In other words," he said as he was petting one of her dogs, "is that she finally decided to stop stalking us."
Lye stared at Death. "I was not stalking, just lagging behind," Lye said. Heiser seemed to bark for no odd reason. He was literally acting like a puppy. Lye shook her head.
he chuckled at the barking dog, then looked back up at Lye, "whatever you say." He started walking off towards the already retreating group of people, the sun was rising ahead, such an astounding sight sometimes. However its not always welcome in the field of battle.
"Yes, leaving. Now hurry. Lucas has already left us all behind," said Annaleigh, watching as Atrius gathered what little belongings he had. "I'd forgotten she was even with us," Anna added when Deathblade and Lye showed up. So, they had been left behind too. What was Luke thinking, leaving everyone? How foolish . . . "Let's go." Turning her back on the others, Anna nearly ran to catch up with her brother, Len, and whoever else had followed him. "I can't believe you almost forgot that guy Lucas." "Yeah, I can't believe it. I mean, who would want to forget him?" Luke said sarcastically, still tired from lack of sleep and thirsty. He wasn't in a very cheerful mood this morning, and he'd forgotten half of the group and still not realized it. To bring up simple conversation, Luke asked, "Why did you join me, Len? What do you have to gain? Power? Money? Something else? I'm starting to think that this whole trip is half-way pointless."
"What else was I going to do with my life?" Len asked. "I have no family, didn't have any friends before either. But now I have all of you, I'm a lot better with magic and I finally feel like my life is going somewhere. This journey has definitely been successful for me, even if I die tomorrow." Len smiled softly, his eyes gazing lazily ahead.
