Aye, would be fabulous, the roll through revolving doors, pchew pchew!! There goes security. Hop from photocopier, peow! Bullseye, managing director of...of Volkswagen, yeah. I enjoyed GCs comment best of all, the: 'In what way do you find this amusing, stand up and tell the class, hmmm, boy, boy..' 'Miss, miss, don't pinch my ear, aow, don't hurt me, lady.' 'WHAT DID YOU SAY!' Actually, I have a bit of a secret thing for beyblade, that's my personal problem. Got a bow downstairs, just can't get the string on it, useless in armageddon, got the baseball bat - and cutlery of course.
It's inherited - one of those super bows. I know I have to try what you said, one day DC, but on youtube the guy has a special contraption to string his - it's kind of dangerous.
Ahhh super bow. The bow with the cape and the undies on the outside. Seriously though, can you post a pic, sounds interesting?
Well, I'm not sending that photograph. Already in trouble today for posting 'Attack of the 50 foot woman' half-nude pic on other website. Don't know what possessed me, it's a GEOLOGIC INITECH - plenty of youtube of some guy stringing it up.
This video is entertaining, but quite clearly full of unabashed deception and complete fabrications of known facts. As a trick archer, Lars is good, but the moment he's "re-discovering" archery as it was - the flags should have gone up on this. Do not take some unspecified "texts" and cherry-picked images to support radical claims. If you took it seriously, you might want to watch Mythbusters about the physics of "catching an arrow" and you will realize the entire video should be seen as entertainment - both for the eyes and for the mind. It is cute, but not real.
Here's an article debunking some of what Lars Anderson does. Snopes weighs in Their conclusion: I don't have an issue that he gives up accuracy for speed. I drew that conclusion long ago. But for my novel, the concept works just as well as writing the perfect street fighter into your story.
Interesting debate, the Lars Andersen promo and the anti-Lars debunk. Whilst it's obvious that his speed of shooting is enhanced by the light draw weight, and thus the inability of his arrows to pierce anything more heavily armoured than a piece of expanded polystyrene, one thing that Mythbusters DON'T do is lead the arrow they're trying to catch; Andersen does. Soooo, they need to redo that experiment, and see if with the hand, going in the same direction as the arrow, they can make enough time to close around the shaft before it has gone past. I'm far from convinced that it's possible, but I'm not certain that it's not. I'm not convinced that more speed = less accuracy (remember that scene in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, where the Kid is trying out for a new job, is told to stand still and shoot a target. Asks if he can move; "I'm better when I move"), but what I am sure about is that more speed = less power = less penetration = NOT punching through plate armour, pelvis, leather saddle and ending up going into the horse.
Keep in mind the timeline on this (mysteriously) revived thread. I posted in January and the rebuttal wasn't up until two weeks later.
Now I didn't finish watching the video yet, I just wanted to answer this first from the video. "But the big question is, why was it forgotten today?" Spoiler: Why? That. Right? I'm guessing that is why nobody remembers it. kidding lol In all seriousness though very very cool archery shooting (even if it was just trick shooting) last time I played with any sort of archery I put a hole in my cousin's pool cover and an arrow on his neighbor's roof. But yeesh that guy is fast.
Or the next day: http://geekdad.com/2015/01/danish-archer/ I am curious @Jack Asher how you determined Lars was the only one who had bothered to learn any of it?
