In the meantime: Name: Dirk I Reynolds Age: 38 Sex: Male Appearance: Dirk has a round bearded face, with a low brow giving him a permanently annoyed expression. He has short dark brown hair, and beady black eyes. He's just under average height, and slightly overweight. Aura: Black and White Short Bio: Shh, it's a secret. Personality: He can be very short tempered, and is easily annoyed, but deep down he's a big softy. He tends to act recklessly, but only has everyone's best interest at heart. Miscellaneous info: Doesn't mind contact, but hates to be patted. ---- Name: Arnold Lemke Age: 27 Sex: Male Appearance: Tall, thin, pale, and bespectacled. Arnold has a defined stubbly face, with rectangular black eyebrows, and straight messy light brown hair. Aura: Transparent purple Short Bio: Not relevant yet. Personality: Arnold is a very docile person, and likes to be given directions. He's also timid, and doesn't speak his true feelings. Miscellaneous info: Doesn't like sunlight. Power: Arnold has the ability to create two temporary wormholes, anywhere he's familiar with. He can step through them for instant travel, but if he loses focus, the wormholes will seal, cutting off anything still inside forever.
Yeah I was kind of like, he's trying to hide it... but it's a metal arm lol, good post though, definitely a nice change of pace for Cody, just as awkward though!
No problem. I think I'll let the conversations going on in the car play out a little more before I get us there. To the people in the car, you can assume we're moving again (i.e. not still sitting on the side of the road), but I'm going to hold off on getting us there until a little more time has passed. I'll probably post after someone responds to Alex. (Unless you want Ivan to respond to him. Oh, boy, I don't think you want that.) Ditto to all that's been said. What naturemage suggested is usually how it's done, in my experience. I've been RPing for years, often with people in completely different time zones, with varying amounts of free time, and "short, one-sided snippets" have never been a major issue. Even if my character only says one tiny line of dialogue, writing what she's thinking or feeling is enough to make a full post. If I only wrote what Ivan was saying and doing, you'd have no idea how crazy she is. 90% of her insanity is in her head and writing the posts from her POV is what gets that point across so well. I usually find that the games where people are doing a lot of behind-the-scenes collaborating run the slowest. Why? because they're trading PMs all day instead of posting. To them, it might seem like things are moving along, but to the other players, we don't see anything happening unless you post. Not to mention you lose that personal touch associated with writing something in your own authorial voice, from your own character's POV. I could never write your characters' thoughts, feelings, and speech as well as any of you can, and vice versa. IMO, that's what roleplaying is about. Getting in your character's head, writing out what's on his/her mind, and seeing how the other players and characters respond to it. Every time I click submit reply I go away thinking "wow, I can't wait to see what happens next." For me, it's just not as much fun when you script it out in advance. But, again, that's only my opinion and I understand others write for reasons different from my own. It's all good.
Fight, fight, fight! Just kidding. Avery sure can be a hothead sometimes. Can't wait to see how everything plays out.
Avery's hotheaded spree vs. Alexander's cool and concise argument. Now that's a fight just waiting to happen. Also, watch out Mr Mr. Alexander's on to you!
@LtW: I think you posted right after I did, and ended up not reading my most recent post. Sorry about that!
And Ivan just blew up again. Sorry, Rebecca, I know you tried. Maybe she'll settle down if someone gives her some directions. A potential peacemaking opportunity, perhaps?
I love it, Mouse. I have a question for Cyber and Nature: Did you guys want Arnold to catch up to your characters, or would you rather develop your own side-thingamy? I could easily find a reason to intrude upon Kami's house.
It's fine. It still works. I just changed the names around. vs. Alex responding to Avery because he already has.
Rebecca would know. However I just posted and I don't want to do a simple 3 line post. However if no one is able to give directions...i will when more people post.
I might give out the directions, seeing as a rundown art studio fits in with Adelaide's whole fashion crazy personality. I'll get my post up.
Just as a note Blizzard, this is pretty inaccurate. Psychopathy does not equal mentally unstable (I know, the movies are quite misleading). Alexander wouldn't look "completely out of it" nor would he fiddle with any of his weapons.
I know it's inaccurate, but after witnessing a murder, Adelaide's mind is literally frazzled with thoughts. She doesn't convey the emotions with doubt, she's the kind of character that says whats on her mind and likes to over-dramatize things. If she wasn't that sort of character, she wouldn't be making Alexander seem so balmy. xD Her dramatized character is boosted of course, from her clothes designing.
She can definetly have an over dramatized view of Alex but I doubt she's hallucinating. I think Cheddar would just like you to edit out the part of him fiddling with his knife since Cheddar knows that Alex wouldn't have any weapons out at that moment.
I haven't done a whole lot of research on psychopaths, so I was wondering...does Alexander really have no feelings or just doesn't show it in his mannerisms? Just curious, since Avery hates him so much. (If you think she's over it...she's not. haha )
Ha, well I'm no expert in psychopathy myself, though I have done my part in researching it. Alexander does in fact have emotion, but they are very shallow, meaning that it takes a lot of one emotional event to actually make him feel much. Because of this, although Avery and Ivan might hate him, and Rebecca and Adelaide might fear him, Alexander doesn't really feel much of anything towards any of your characters. One would have to threaten his life, or pester him repeatedly to invoke hatred, or save his life/aid him repeatedly to invoke kindness. He will however, sometimes fake emotions (grinning, frowning, etc.) if he finds it advantageous to do so.
@Earphone: we sort of agreed to develop our own side-thingy when we started playing, but you're welcome to find your way there. The "romance" between Kami and Cody is still a bit awkward. lol
Just curious: Why did Kami leave her cellphone with Ivanna if she was going back to her house? It's a trivial question at this point, maybe she didn't realize she'd left it? I only ask because unless Cody has a phone, we have no way of contacting your end. (Even if he did, I doubt the characters would know the number, unless Kami put it into her contacts like a creeper. ) Like I said, it's trivial. I'll probably have Arnold catch up with Kami and Cody, if only for a little while; just long enough to give them a means of contacting them.
I thought Dirk's people had a means of finding exceptionals? When they were searching for Marty & Cheyenne, he called up Trace and the man led Dirk right to them.... unless there's some limit on Trace's ability that I'm overlooking.
Trace has to see the people in person to be able to "Trace" them. He found Cheyenne (Who was the one he'd been tracing) because Gary (her father) had contributed to their group, so he'd seen her before. Trace doesn't get out as much as the others, so he hasn't encountered every Exceptional in our group. Dirk knows where they all live, most of their abilities, and sometimes contact information. (Arnold's better at electronic espionage.) Wait a tic, I just remember that waaay earlier Cyber had a text sent to Cody's phone. *Frown* Normally they wouldn't do that, but I guess that means they have his number in their database, so... Crisis averted, I guess.
I got a post up, I tried to make it a little funnier so I hope it comes across. Cody is very awkward, and can't wait for him to meet up with Alexander again, looks like he's been getting along great with everyone lol. And sorry about that Earphone, I just had it random but at least we have a way in now!
Yeah! the car ride is over. I can almost feel Rebecca's relief as my own. I think I discovered a new aspect of my character. She's claustraphobic.
