Yeah, you'll find us somehow. And Dirk at least knows where Kami's house is. He's been there, when he first met her.
@MrMr...Are you planning on remaining in cat form till you find out more or are you gonna turn into a human as soon as we get out of the car? @everyone else...I'll post soon; just trying to get details straight.
Joe'll probably reveal himself when everyone's grouped in the building. Don't know if he'll turn human though.
Rain, rain go away, come again another day! lol Loved your post LtW, and thanks for the umbrella. Let's see if Avery can get past the rain, unless Ivan decides to trip her into a puddle or something.
LOL, when I saw Avery's request for an umbrella, I considered having Ivan give up her leather jacket. But I didn't wanna post back to back. I knew one of those softies in the backseat would step up to the plate and help her out. A shame. Ivan missed a chance to show off her sleeve tats.
Aw, yeah, what a shame. Although, there's always next time! I guess who's next to post is Cheddar, Blizzard, or you right? My next post would be Avery getting out the car, pleading that we hurry inside, but I don't want her to do that too soon. That leads me to another question...we don't have a key to get inside the place do we? Are we going to stand in the rain until Dirk gets there? Or, will Ivan just kick open the door?
Yup, it is closed. I'd say, wait until Dirk arrives. (If you can.) I'm working soon, so I won't be able to post until tonight, (figures...) so if you want to have your characters "bond" until the others get there, more power to you. Don't forget, Bin 's is a convergence point, Dirk never said that was the final destination. (Don't worry, I won't lead us on a wild goose chase, the base is close by.)
I'm hoping I'll get a post in soon. I sent a PM to Mr Mr about possible interactions, and am waiting for a response.
I just want to make a comment to the next person to post. Due to the previous incident, Dirk is extremely depleted of energy, and his face will look hollow and worried, even though he was smirking.
I think I'm getting the hang of letting people speak their own lines. I'm terrible for doing that and sometimes I don't even realize it. Hopefully the post leaves it open enough.
Blizzard, Dirk gave his trench-coat to Cheyenne, as I said in the previous post. He was also carrying her. Don't have Dirk do anything, just wait for me to respond with him... I'm nit-picking for the most part, but I don't want Dirk being controlled.
Post is up. It's a little short, but I did my best. Just to clarify in case it was confusing. When Marty refers to Martin, he is talking about himself, but just a dormant part of his personality. He's a little messed up in the head. @Naturemage: I'm being nitpicky here, but in your post Kami was remembering a guy with a cart, who I assume is Marty. However Marty's power would have erased her memory of him when they separated. Not a big deal, just wanted to clarify that as well.
Awesome posts, guys! I enjoy reading your characters differing personalities. I also think it's really funny that Avery is being ignored, poor her. haha That last line of hers was to be after conversations and stuff though, so maybe she won't be miserable for long.
It's dark Dirk! *Dun dun duuunnnn!* Just in case you were wondering, he's not actually a toolbox, just at the moment. He just needs some alone time. EDIT: Cheddar and Mr Mr both haven't posted in quite some time. I'd like to get Joe actually active in the story, instead of being a tag-along spectator. (He's only gotten like four posts so far...) Cheddar, feel free to post whenever, you can interject your character into Dirk's conversation, if you choose. He's still next to the car, right? I wasn't sure.
I'll have Joe reveal himself soon then. I just haven't found a point that felt natural for him to reveal yet.
Sorry about the recent absence. I haven't really found much for Alexander to do in this situation (he would stand by and watch, which isn't very interesting to write). But I'll have him respond to Dirk's question. Should have a post up sometime today.
Thanks for the much needed cue! And the body-in-public thing should no longer be a problem. @AnonyMouse: I didn't make Ivan's ice invisible just in case you'd rather that didn't happen. Is her ice warp-able by other powers?
Sorry for the slow response; I was pretty busy most of yesterday and missed your post. Kami's ability worked on Ivan's crystal earlier, so Alexander's probably should too. You can make them invisible if you'd like; if it's too late to edit, we can just assume they're invisible (or maybe I'll have Ivan remove them in my next post, since the guy's unconscious anyway and she's probably tired of maintaining it). Here's a write-up of what Ivan's power does; taken from my own notes: Ivan has the power to create “kinetic crystal,” a clear, diamond-like substance noted for its incredible hardness and light weight. It is sometimes mistaken as ice, because it forms by “freezing” (crystallizing) the air, but is not cold to the touch. When in motion, kinetic crystal carries far greater force than its mass suggests, making it an excellent blunt weapon. When not in motion, the opposite is true: it can absorb a great amount of force, making it an excellent shield. Ivan can switch between these two states at will, going from offense to defense on-the-fly. Because it robs projectiles of their kinetic energy, objects that strike it while in the defensive state will lose all mometum and fall to the ground. (I.e. bullets don't ricochet off of it, they just hit, stop, and drop.) Likewise, this energy is stored and used the next time the crystal is in the offensive state; crystal that has been used to block attacks becomes more powerful the next time it is used offensively, but there are limits on this. Forming and maintaining kinetic crystal requires focus. Ivan is capable of making complex shapes and large objects (i.e. a suit of armor or a riot shield) but nothing lasts forever. It will vaporize if her concentration falters or if she overexerts herself or moves out of range (about one city block). Also, it is not indestructible. For example, her crystal barriers are strong enough to block bullets, but repeated full-auto weapons fire (or armor piercing rounds) will shatter them. When they break, she is hit with a mental backlash, resulting in headaches, migraines, and dizzying symptoms similar to a hangover or vertigo. ...And what she can't do: No superhuman strength. No super speed or senses. Her crystal can't fly around on its own (it must be picked up and used manually). Can't make moving parts or soft goods (no fabric or flexible stuff, just hard crystal).
Sorry guys, been hella busy with school and work. I'm working tonight, but I'll post details on what to do so you guys can continue. (I'm gonna be busy for a while.) Like last time, I'll leave Dirk with Mouse, and Cheyenne with Mjolnir. Sorry, I'll have more info tonight. (Late)
Hello to everyone. Just to let you all know I am going to be gone for the next 3 days. You can use my character as an NPC in the meantime. Be back soon.
Alright, so business is pretty much this: SPOILER ALERT, lol... There is an alley two blocks down behind Bin 's that leads to a dead-end. There is a solid metal door to one's immediate right upon reaching said dead-end. (It's built about a foot into the wall, so you wouldn't see it unless you were standing next to it.) That is where Dirk will lead the group. They'll need to have someone "dispose" of the car, and meet up with them there. If someone asks Dirk how the door remained hidden for so long, Dirk will tell them (roughly), that Gary Fear had been protecting their base with his power, but since he's dead, they may need to re-locate. (Cue sorrow from Cheyenne...) Once inside, there will be a hall full of lights, leading to a large den like room, filled with games, a poker table, some regular tables, and a mini kitchen. There are more corridors leading to more rooms, but let's save those for when I get back. The goal here is to get into the base, and relax. Get comfortable, talk, grab a drink. (Everyone will probably be offered one by Monica.) Feel free to talk away with Trace and Monica, they are true NPCs. (Though save any revealing dialog for me, and study their templates before posting dialog with them, so you get an idea of their personality.) Dirk is going to take the grey suit into the back, and isn't going to want to talk to anybody. (He's going to be in a really bad mood.) He might talk a bit on the trip, (Depending on how Mouse feels) but he'll strictly forbid anyone from following him to the containment room with the grey suit. Okay, now for the templates: Name: Trevor "Trace" Gordon Age: 45 Sex: Male Appearance: A rather obese man, with a jolly round pink face. He always has a kerchief to wipe sweat from his brow. He has a shaved head, and a sandy blonde greying walrus mustache. He has hazel eyes, and wears a pair of pea-sized glasses. Currently, he is wearing an ugly tan short-sleeved button-up silk shirt (his arms are rather hairy), and khaki pants. Aura: Pink Short Bio: In short, he founded Eximius with Dirk eight and a half years ago. Since it's founding, many Exceptionals have gone in an out, with some creating their own bases. (There are currently three outside bases, one in Los Angeles, CA, one in St. Paul, MN, and one in Toronto, Canada.) Trace is proud of the organization, and will boast about it to other Exceptionals. Personality: Trace is a jolly friendly man, who likes everyone and is liked by everyone. He has a booming baritone voice, and acts very carefree, though he can become serious in a snap. He is the only person that is very close to Dirk, and the only one who knows much about his past. Miscellaneous info: Likes toy dogs, and hamburgers. Power: Trace, like the nickname would suggest, has the ability to locate people anywhere. The only limitations are that he must have seen the person he is trying to locate, before he can. He also has to have his hands together, and remain stationary to trace, making him vulnerable. ---- Name: Monica Zimmers Age: 24 Sex: Female Appearance: Tall and slightly curvy, with almost completely white skin. She has sleek straightened black hair that reaches to her shoulders, and bangs that fall to her eyeline. She has gold eyes, and a small mouth with large lips. She is currently wearing a snug purple sweater, and black jeans. Aura: Yellow Short Bio: Not relevent yet. Personality: She's very sweet, and playful. She tends to worry a lot, and overreacts to things frequently. She also doesn't feel very useful, as her ability makes her body very weak, and gets sad when other members leave on missions. Miscellaneous info: Has very strong feelings toward Arnold, who is pretty socially awkward, and doesn't (quite) notice. When the group comes in, she may ask, "Hey, where's Arnold?" Power: Monica is able to get inside peoples' heads, and see their thoughts and memories. She has the passive ability to tell when someone is lying. (She gets a slight tingle when someone lies.) Her drawback is that people can tell, and feel, when she is invading their minds. (They won't quite know what it is, but they'll be able to tell that something is amiss.) Also, as her ability is a mental one, her body is very weak, and she doesn't go outside often. ---- There ya'll go, I'll be back by (maybe) Sunday, but more likely Tuesday or Wednesday. Please don't let my absence stall your progress, if you guys get far enough, I'll post more info. Now, on to finals homework... -Earphone
@LTW Sorry to hear that. Come back soon! In the meantime.... Ivan has a new punching bag. j/k... maybe. @Earphone Thanks for the info. I'll get a post up in the morning. @others Does anyone object to me moving us straight to the base? It would involve controlling your characters (no dialogue, just physically walking from point A to B).
I'm good with going straight to the base. Joe's just following at the moment, I can reveal him when they get there.
