Liriope Eva had snubbed Liriope and he'd smirked back. "Fiesty, me like!", Liriope had cried, his eyes turning dusky violet and dancing with laughter. Then a squabble broke out, and befor eLiriope could intervene, Sheena went absolutely psycho and pulled out a friggin' knife. Liriope didn't know what her power was, so he was wary, but he was also prepared. Liriope slowly stood up and flicked his fingers ever-so-slightly. A purplish blue sheen appeared on Sheena's weapon of choice, dulling the edge so she couldn't harm anyone with it. "How bout we all just calm down and figure out how to find the author of that weird note", Liriope suggested, raising his hands peaceably. "I say we start by getting that doggie to sniff it. Where is the mutt, anyway?"
Camille: Keeper "And Camille, maybe you should stop talking...just for a little bit." Camille rolled her eyes, undaunted, but not without empathy for Sheena. A satirical smile fluttered across her pretty face as she met Sheena's gaze through the water vapor. "At least they think you can look after yourself. Everyone hereabouts, seems to think I'm in need of a keeper. I might want for sense, but I'm not stupid. Oh...wait...I'm still talking..." "I say we start by getting that doggie to sniff it. Where is the mutt, anyway?" Camille suddenly burst out of her billowing cloaks of water, completely dry, as she went toe to toe with Liriope. "Leave Radish out of this."
Baley Warsaw Being one of seven children, she knew when to keep her mouth shut and this was one of those times. Baley watched the proceedings, her blue eyes shifting from person to person as the tension rose quickly. The carrot-top Camille had appeared and a few she recognized from being in town each week. The take-charge woman Baley watched closer than the rest, listening to her tone closely. They all were wondering who sent the letters, but this woman--Eva--seemed to want it the most. Her determination was as clear as her city folk fashion sense. Another woman began threatening everybody with a knife and at this, Baley stepped back a few inches. If the tension hadn't boiled over yet...it was about to. "Leave Radish out of this." Blowing her bangs out her eyes, Baley looked up as the carrot-top stepped closer to Liriope. Inside her hoodie pocket, she clenched her hands into fists. She couldn't take the tension anymore. "Can ya'll just shut your traps for like a minute?" Baley said. "Before we know it, two of ya will be wrestling on the ground."
Liriope "Leave Radish out of this." "Uh, nobody said anything about radish, little chickadee", Liriope said, smirking. "Oh, wait, do you mean the doggie? But why shouldn't we use him to track the note to it's source? Don't you want to figure out this whole darn mystery? Gawsh, you're not a team player are you..." Liriope was half-joking, half-serious. He wanted to find the original author of the note, figure out what was going on, and then take a monster catnap. "Anyone else got a super-sensative nose?", Liriope asked everyone, meaning it as a joke. Then he saw the guy creeping by a wall, gold glittering on his skin. A sharp, burnt smell filled Liriope's nostrils. "Hey, dude, whatcha doin' over there? Are you one of us, Exceptional?" If he's not, we'd better stop using our powers all willy-nilly.
Camille: In Defense of Radish "Uh, nobody said anything about radish, little chickadee", Liriope said, smirking. "Oh, wait, do you mean the doggie? But why shouldn't we use him to track the note to it's source? Don't you want to figure out this whole darn mystery? Gawsh, you're not a team player are you..." Liriope was half-joking, half-serious. Camille brought a small sandaled foot down hard on Liriope's in-step. "Radish happens to be one of the few things this town has that is worth protecting. He's a husky, not a bloodhound. So excuse me if I have qualms about trusting him to a good for nothing layabout." "Can ya'll just shut your traps for like a minute?" Baley said. "Before we know it, two of ya will be wrestling on the ground." Camille tossed a scathing glance Baley's way. "Says you, Pollyanna. I'm just looking out for my dog." Turning back to Liriope, she scowled. "I want to figure this out, just as much as the rest of you, but I'm not going to jeopardize the only living thing I know that cares about me, to do so. He's saved my life on more than one occasion."
"Stay out of this." Sheena sneered at Liriope, Sheena then shoved Shyla out of the way. "I ask who told you?" Sheena inisited still pointing the now dull knife at her tormentor. "I'm not going to ask again."
Liriope Liriope was jumping on one foot, glaring at the fierce little girl. "Don't do that again, ya little brat!", Liriope said, pouting. He really, really wanted to bang this munchkin with a shield, but he resisted the temptation. "I'll get you, and you're big doggie, too!", he threatened. Then he turned to Baley. "Do you have any other plans, 'cause the toddler over here isn't giving up her pet", Liriope said, glancing at Camille sideways. If she attacked again, he'd throw up a shield and make her fall flat on her butt.
Camille: Forthright "I ask who told you?" Sheena insisted still pointing the now dull knife at her tormentor. "I'm not going to ask again." Camille glanced back over at the knife wielding widow, having been momentarily distracted by Liriope. "No one." She replied honestly. "It didn't take a great leap of logic in this case. There was a belt left out on your front porch. I'm guessing it got tossed through the window when someone came to your aid." The sprinklers flared higher, their veils winging toward Camille like welcoming arms. "Don't think I'm helpless, just because I'm small." "Don't do that again, ya little brat!", Liriope said, pouting. He really, really wanted to bang this munchkin with a shield, but he resisted the temptation. "I'll get you, and you're big doggie, too!", he threatened. Camille merely smiled an eerie light glowing in her eyes.
Baley Warsaw Camille tossed a scathing glance Baley's way. "Says you, Pollyanna. I'm just looking out for my dog." Rude...like all of 'em. Baley rolled her eyes. "Do you have any other plans, 'cause the toddler over here isn't giving up her pet", Liriope said, glancing at Camille sideways. "Well, for one if you'd quit callin' folks toddlers, they'd probably take your plans seriously," Baley replied. She was growing annoyed at all the arguments. Even when her siblings fought, she'd always be the one to stalk off to a quiet room. "I really don't have a clue about the notes," she continued. "But, if that woman wrote the last note to all of us, then maybe we could do some more letter writin' of our own." "I ask who told you?" the woman inisited still pointing the now dull knife at her tormentor. "I'm not going to ask again." Baley turned to see the psychotic woman still pointing her knife. As she studied the small weapon, she brought one gloved hand out of her pocket. If she could touch the knife without getting cut, she could easily get rid of the threat. Baley stayed where she stood, waiting until the moment was right. No need to be hasty.
"I warned you." Sheena growled and suddenly lunged for her! She moved with a speed that was uncanny for her usual swaggering appearance. She seemed to have lost control of her self, in truth her violent out burst main goal, was to help with the pain of having her sorrows trampled over by that Camille.
Camille: Ghost "I warned you." Camille ducked into the sprinkler torrents, disappearing like a ghost among the dark, shimmery sheets. Ice whispered across the ground in a glassy smooth blanket, making footing treacherous. Light and lithe on her feet, Camille moved like a dancer, darting in and out of maze of sprinklers. She moved without sound, and barely a shadow. But she knew Sheena's exact location. A slender tendril of water slashed out of the darkness, connecting solidly with the back of Sheena's head. Her voice echoed between the aisle of spray. "I told you the truth. You asked, even when you knew it might be a bitter brew to swallow." Another lash of water shot out, wrapping around the widow's wrist.
Sheena seemed suprised at her sudden vanishing act and freezing the water. She almost slipped but recover her footing with unexspected agility. Water wrapped around her arm, Sheena yanked her hand back the attacked where the source of water was coming from in a complete rage.
Eva, ignoring the shenanigans The doctor stepped aside as the knife-wielding widow lunged at Camille. On one hand, she didn't want to see the girl harmed -- she didn't want to see anyone harmed. On the other hand, Camille had brought this on herself. Besides, this was the perfect opportunity to see what the widow was capable of. She had already mentioned something about protecting others from herself. What is she capable of? Eva wondered as she watched the woman slash at the sheets of water. Evangeline positioned herself between the fight and the bystanders, namely Liriope and the milk girl. "Stay back. I doubt she can actually harm Camille. Let's let them tire one another out," Eva said, without taking her eyes off the fray. Her eyes briefly flickered to the little milk maid and she extended her umbrella in a gesture of companionship. "This is probably a bad time, but I don't think we've been introduced. You're from the Happy Hooves farm, yes? I've seen you around town a few times."
Camille: Tentacles Eight more tentacles shot out form all different directions, some grabbing for hands, others for feet. Each reaching and seeking to trip and entrap. Camille darted to and fro, a whisper in the darkness. "Be still. Your rage is of your own making." As each twining arm of water found a hold, Camille froze it, setting and tethering it to the ice sheet beneath her feet. "Enough." More water poured down, reducing visibility even more. Circling again, she cast out another fleet of tentacles, meshing and binding as tightly as a net.
Baley Warsaw Baley stuffed her gloved hand back into her pocket as the two folks did exactly what she had predicted. Well...not exactly, but they were pretty close to having a wrestling match. "This is probably a bad time, but I don't think we've been introduced. You're from the Happy Hooves farm, yes? I've seen you around town a few times." Baley turned to the city woman, who had offered half of the umbrella to her. She found this unusual, but took the kind gesture anyway. "Was that just a lucky guess?" she said with a slight grin. The spotted logo on her hoodie could probably be seen a mile away. "But yeah, I'm Baley Warsaw. I...uh, don't get out and about a whole lot." She flicked back her bangs that had again fallen into her eyes, to get a closer look at Eva. The woman's pure white coat stood out in the evening gloom. "The redhead called ya Doc. So you're a doctor then?"
"If I get a hold of you, your dead!" Sheena cursed ripping the ice frustrated by the elusiveness of this opponent. Deadly up close, Sheena was useless without actually touching the opponent. Suddenly with a surge of strength she ripped from the ice and landed on the road. But she didn't attack, she simply stood up having calmed her self. She glared at Camille but kept her peace.
Camille: Tackle Ben watched, Sheena the reclusive widow, go after Camille, who was moving about like a creature possessed. Even through the spray of the sprinklers, he could see moonlight glinting off a dagger. Radish's whine morphed into a plaintive howl. Camille's voice carried over the chittering of the sprinklers. "Enough." Officer Hanson shoved to his feet, oblivious of his soaked and disheveled, uniform. His boots squeaked on the grass as he made a running charge at Camille. With Radish pointing the way there was no way he could miss her. Radish streaked out from under the bush, beelining for his elusive mistress. Ben pressed tight on the dog's heels, but nearly went down when he hit Camille's ice sheet. Years of dealing with brutal Minnesota winters was the only thing that saved him from a crashing fall. Startled by the smothered oath, Camille paused just long enough for Ben to get a clear shot at her. He look the leap and caught her in the flying tackled that had made him an all state football player in high school. She squealed in fear and outrage as they hit the ground and bounced, Ben shielding her fragile frame as much as possible. "If I get a hold of you, your dead!" Sheena cursed ripping the ice frustrated by the elusiveness of this opponent. The pair came to a shuddering halt. Thankfully Camille was on top of him, her head buried against his chest. Something hot and wet dripped onto his knees. Even in the moonlight he could see that she was too pale, even for a redhead. Slowly he sat up, setting her on the grass. She was putty in his hands, there was almost no resistance. Her knees were reddish-black stains against her marble skin. Small streams of blood coursed steadily downward along her slender calves to her ankles and into the grass. "Camille..." Ben said. "Can you hear me?" She merely blinked at him, her eyes huge and unfocused. "Dammit, Camille." He growled. "You aren't doing this to me again. Not twice in one day." Camille's eyes drifted shut as her knees began to bleed in earnest. As suddenly as the sprinklers had gone on, they switched off, all save for three or four yards.
Shyla and Sheena The fight had gone too far. Sheena was desperatly attacking Camille with her knife and Camille was fending her off useing her water based abilites. Despite what Eva had said about letting them duel it out...Shy couldn't imagine allowing a display of powers to go unchecked in the middle of town was the best idea. Before Sheena and the others knew what was happening Shyla had grabbed Sheena's shoulders and teleported her away. They reappeared behind a building just outside the Town Center. Close enough to walk quickly back to the group but out of sight, giving Sheena time to cool down. Little did they know that Camille had just collapsed, thus already ending the duel. Shyla backed away from Sheena, just in case she decided to take a swing at her, and put a hand to her head. She squinted painfully from the sudden mini-seziure. Her watch beeped in warning. Down to 21 more teleports. A red bar flickered on the screen briefly. The regulator was having a hard time regulating the amount of electricity she'd been generating from her multiple teleports that day. Shy needed to be more careful. Sheena lashed out at Camille, who vanished along with everything else. When she came to, they were in the middle of no where. "What the?" Sheena said stunned, she looked around her, anger giving way to confusion. Shyla looked up at her, a pained grimace still on her face. "I teleported you away. I didn't want you guys hurting eachother or anyone else." She explained. At first Sheena glared at her, after a minute simply standing in silence she looked away. "That bitch, you don't joke about peoples problems like that, using them against them with such malice. You should have let me put her in her place." Shyla crossed her arms and glared right back. "And that would have helped how? You just got done telling me how you didn't want to hurt anyone. And that's exactly what would have happened had you guys kept going!" That one hurt, Shyla was right but Sheena's temper along with her ability were the exsact reasons why she tried to be alone. Suddenly Sheena began to cry "I know...that's why I can't be around people, I'm a terrible person, I, I can't control my emotions. It's so easy to hurt someone. Even so why did she have to point out I tried to kill myself infront of everyone?" She put her hands on her face, the emotionally unstable woman sunk to her knees and began to cry. "I just want to be left alone." "Uh..." Shyla looked around awkwardly before kneeling beside Sheena and patting her on the shoulder. How did she suddenly find herself here at this moment. Talking down a suicidle and mentally unstable woman one minute, then comforting her the next? She sighed inwardly. Shouldv'e stayed home...then again I'm not sure I could handle hearing mom and dad talk about a new sibiling for another minute. Who knew there were so many like me in this town? I knew there had to be others...but I didn't relieze there were so many. Which begs the question, how does whoever sent us the letters...know about us? After a few minutes of letting the woman sob Shyla finally asked, "So...are you ok to go back now?" "Give me a minute." Sheena wiped away her tears and stood up, 30 seconds later with a heavy sigh she nodded at Shyla. "Thankyou." She said quietly looking down at her feet again. Shyla shrugged her shoulders. "Yeah...sure. C'mon. They're right around the corner."
Ina Holt Ina couldn't believe what was happening in front of her. Maybe it would have been a better idea for her to go hide alone. These people were lunatics! This Eva lady had taken charge, and seemed to be the only one with a level head on her shoulders. As quickly as the girls' fight had begun, the cop had interceded. The red-head was now lying on the ground, and the other lady was... Where was the other lady? Ina frowned, as a weight shifted on her shoulders. She'd felt an odd pressure since the group had gathered, and thought it to be the result of someone's powers. She made to walk toward where Baley stood, but found herself rooted to the spot. "Now that the confrontation is over..." Ina froze. The deep bass voice had come from directly above her. She turned her head, and forced back a scream as she a shirtless man standing behind her, hands resting on her shoulders? How long has he been there?! "It's time for an explanation." Ina pulled away sharply, breaking free of the man's grasp. A spurt of green liquid flew from her eye, and she spun around as a mallet appeared in her hand, swinging at the man. Smack! He had caught the mallet, and pulled it from her in one movement. Ina breathed hard, and glared at the man. How could he have seen through her attack? She hadn't shown anyone her ability. "Hold off!" The man said to the group, placing the mallet on the ground gently, then held out his hands, "My name is Lawrence. I delivered your letters, we're only trying to help you." The man was very tall, nearly a head taller than Liriope, and very thin, almost delicate. There were almost no traces of muscle to be seen on his body. He had a bald head, piercing grey eyes, and a salt and pepper five o'clock shadow. Ina recognized the man! She'd run into him at Carving & Crafts. (Though he'd been wearing more clothes then.) "Creep!" Ina shouted, trembling with a mix of anger and fear, "Sneaking around, and giving us weird messages! And-and touching me! Have you been spying on us?" She felt a chill go up her spine. Now that she thought about it more, she'd seen this man around town a lot; walking, driving, shopping. She'd never given him a second thought until now. "Not spying," The man said with a smile, wrinkles appearing next to his eyes, "And it's Lawrence, not creep." He pulled a cloth from his pocket, and wiped sprinkler water from his face, then turned to gaze at the red-headed girl and the cop with her. "I thought we asked you to lose the cop," He said, his voice deepening even further, "He shouldn't be here."
Ben and Camille: Penny and Pound "I thought we asked you to lose the cop," He said, his voice deepening even further, "He shouldn't be here." "Well I am here, buster, so deal with it. None of you has the faintest hint of control over Camille, let alone what to do with her when she does something stupid. Which I can pretty much guarantee, you she will." Ben grabbed the cloth from the newcomer's hand and along with his own handkerchief, placed them over Camille's bloodied knees. His face was white against the darkness. "She's bleeding out again. Every time she..." Came the broken explanation as he fought to slow the flow. Applying pressure, he snarled at the new guy. "You know, your timing really stinks, buddy."
Eva, taking charge (again...) “His story checks out,” Eva explained to the small girl who’d called him a creep. “This ‘Lawrence’ has visited my clinic quite a few times. He’s physically unwell, as you can see, but I believe his mind is sound. I wouldn’t say I trust him, but he’s no stranger. That’s a start.” Though he does appear to have the same problem as Liriope: he doesn’t know how to keep his hands to himself, she thought. "Well I am here, buster, so deal with it,” Ben fired back. “None of you has the faintest hint of control over Camille, let alone what to do with her when she does something stupid. Which I can pretty much guarantee, you she will." “Yes, we’ve noticed,” Eva whispered under her breath. In her mind, it was becoming painfully clear who the weak link was. Camille’s lack of control --especially that mouth of hers-- was becoming a liability. The cop muttered to himself as he dabbed at the blood and applied firm pressure. Eva moved closer, to observe, but he seemed to be doing everything right. There was little else she could do, but stick another needle in her… and Camille had made her views on that quite clear. Besides, two doses of that in one day could be risky. "You know, your timing really stinks, buddy," Ben added. “His timing’s perfect. His methodology is what’s flawed,” Eva said, looking to Lawrence. “If you wanted to help, you could’ve filled the page with all manner of helpful information. ‘Hide’ just doesn’t cut it. Hide from what, from whom?” she said. “As for Officer Hanson, yes, he’s here in violation of your written command -- everyone is here in violation of your command. We’d all be cowering in our homes had we heeded your orders. Instead, we’re here,” she pointed to the damp streets beneath them, “and we expect some answers, Lawrence.”
Camille: Breakable "He’s physically unwell, as you can see, but I believe his mind is sound. I wouldn’t say I trust him, but he’s no stranger. That’s a start.” Camille, roused by the deep stinging of her knees, gave an anemic laugh. "Glad to know I'm not the only one who's breakable." "Shut up, Camille." Ben snapped, pressing down harder on her knees than he intended. Camille winced. "Sorry." Ben muttered just as Eva pointed out. “As for Officer Hanson, yes, he’s here in violation of your written command -- everyone is here in violation of your command. We’d all be cowering in our homes had we heeded your orders. Instead, we’re here,” she pointed to the damp streets beneath them, “and we expect some answers, Lawrence.” "Please, do tell." She prodded as she sat up and helped Ben apply pressure to her knees. Her eyes were shadowed from fatigue and dark with pain. Her whisper was inaudible to anyone but Ben. "This isn't going to stop on its own."
Baley Warsaw "You ok there, Ina?" Baley asked. Of all the people here, Baley felt she could relate to the small girl most, therefore she was concerned. She hoped Ina hadn't gotten spooked too bad. Her gaze then shifted to the 'creep' who had made his unique appearance to the group. His chest was as bare as a plucked chicken. Has the chicken's legs too. Baley cracked a smile in the darkness. The man might be dangerous, but she predicted that Chuck could take him out in an easy three seconds. Unless...he had an ability. Her smile faded as she looked to the others who had already prodded the man with questions. Stepping a smidgen closer to Ina, she waited for the man to start talking.
Camille: In the Shadows of the Tower “Err.. erm... I” The group barely noticed the squeak. But the lightning may have caught their attention. Camille plucked her glasses from the soaking grass and slid them up her nose. As she did so, she caught a glimpse of...was that lightning? Awkwardly she shoved herself to her feet, Ben's hand a manacle about her narrow wrist. "Camille, what the devil do you think you're..." She shushed him. "There's someone else over there." She whispered, indicating the deeper shadows near the bell tower. "Where?" A little bit of electricity sparked. "Oh...But who?" Camille flicked the excess water off her glasses and blinked, not quite believing what she was seeing. "Teddy?"
Gabreil Reeve Gabe found himself stepping in front of Ina and Baley, his eyes shimmering gold as his aura surged. "If you're looking for trouble, you've got it." he growled warningly, clenching his hands. Even though he never liked using his powers, he would if he had to to protect the girls.
