From the moment the Pill became widely available, the effect of the sexual revolution has mainly been to make women more sexually available to men. This hardly even qualifies as an unintended consequence, just an unannounced one.

Fixed. We all need practice, and it's perfectly fine to write garbage and just throw it away. Preferable, even, to just waiting for the muse to finally show up.

    Much food for thought here.

But wasn't it true that the effect was to make men more sexually available to women? It allowed them to partake of sexual activity and respond to their own urges without needing to deal with the consequences of pregnancy. Before that, women had to insist that the guys have protection, but the Pill freed her of that burden. Now she had control.

Of course, Andrews is right that women became more sexually available to men, and men certainly weren't complaining (at least, I wasn't). But her phrasing seemed to imply that men benefitted from the pill more than the women did.

This isn't the Debate Room, but I'm of the opinion that the Pill benefited women more than men based on the fact that it took Japan 30-plus years to approve the Pill and thirty-minus seconds to approve Viagra. YMMV :)

Past the top 100 books, the numbers are dire. The average book sells 200 copies. An average "bestseller" sells about 2,000 copies. Almost all significant book sales are to "communities," typically book clubs, authors' social media followers, or interest groups (like true crime).

I doubt those numbers - I've sold way more than 200 copies of most of my books and i'm not close to being a breakthrough author - we'll probably find that the data doesn't include ebooks, or don't include amazon or or some shit like that

"I am wrong" describes a logical impossibility. As soon as we know we are wrong, we aren't wrong anymore, since to recognize a belief as false is to stop believing it. Thus we can only say, " I was wrong." Call it the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle of Error: we can be wrong, or we can know it, but we can't do both at the same time.
