    My two favorites are...

    - The Book of Ember series
    - The Drizzt series (I don't know if that's the correct name)

I've read all of the Ember books, but the Drizzt series is much bigger. I think I've been reading it for two years now, and I'm still not done. Its really good though.

    Favorite Series

The title say’s it all really.

    Here’s mine.

    Discworld (Terry Pratchett)
Few series make it into double figures without running out of steam, the fact that this series now totals 37 books and shows no dip in quality (if anything it improves with age) says everything you need to know.

Memory Sorrow and Thorn (Tad Williams)
Personally my favorite series in the big thick fantasy book genre. A bit slow to start off but well worth the effort once it gets going. And if my recommendation doesn’t do anything for you, it’s a favorite of George RR Martin’s (See if you can spot the references in A Clash of Kings).

    The Tomorrow Series (John Marsden)
This series follows exploits of a group of teenage guerrilla’s during the invasion of Australia by a foreign power. I’ll say it straight out that the series contains some of the best sustained action/suspense scenes I have ever read (books 5 and 7 especially). In addition to this there’s some fantastic world building (90% of the locations in the series are fictional) and great human drama in-between the explosions and bullets.

I definitely have to go with Robert Jordan's series The Wheel of Time. Why did he have to die!?

I'll mention it for you, Gi. :)

I love the Twilight series. That's right, I said it. :p

I also really enjoy Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. I liked The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants books, also.

I love how you knew what I was thinking there......:D:p Yes, I love Twilight too. And I'm currently rereading the Sisterhood series--I'm on book 2.

There are so many good ones that I love, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment.

I'm noticing that a lot of the series mentioned tend to be fantasy.

For me, I'd claim Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series. I read them from when I was very young, and loved them :)

I also like Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin series, and if you can count it as a series, Iain M Banks' Culture novels.

Another favorite series of mine is The Work and the Glory. It's historical fiction about the start of the LDS church, and while I was never too enamored with the overly religious parts of the series, the writer did a really good job, and I loved the characters.

    I have several favorites.
Harry Potter, Left Behind, The O'Malley series & True Hero series (Dee Henderson), and I have to admit... Twilight. But to be completely honest, the entire time I was reading Twilight I continually asked, "Why am I reading this?" I love the plot and the characters but her writing skills left a lot to be desired. Of course, her skills improved with each book, which is to be expected. I feel her best work is the incomplete Midnight Sun.
This is just my opinion, I'm not trying to offend anyone.

I forgot about Pern! Over course I have to add that series, except that latter ones were down in quality.

I don't really read series that much anymore, but my two current favourites are A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin, and the continuing works of R. Scott Bakker- first the Prince of Nothing Trilogy and now the Aspect Emperor Trilogy.

ASOIAF doesn't really need an intro, though it looks no one else has mentioned it. It does a good job subverting my expectations of epic fantasy. However, because of the wait between books I've decided to stop reading the series until it is complete. I expect to be waiting a very long time.

Both the R. Scott Bakker trilogies, which together form an ongoing story, remind me of Martin's work in many ways. The story's very dark and gritty, and though Bakker isn't anywhere near the bloodletter that Martin is, the books still have some genuinely shocking moments. Bakker does an excellent job re-imagining ancient cultures, and his treatment of philosophy and religion is simply the best I've found in fantasy. His work is one of my biggest influences.

Nice taste Banzai! Pern was most certainly McCaffrey's greatest work, though the Rowan and subsequent two books were excellent as well.

Good taste for you as well Agreen. ASOIAF (never seen it in an acronym before!) was simply fantastic.

Despite sometimes feeling a bit different or discovering something else that I enjoy thoroughly, I can't shake Dragonlance: The Legends Trilogy from the top spot on my list. Every time I read it I am drawn into Weis and Hickman's Krynn never to be set free until I've finished the trilogy. Again.

My favorite two series are the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld, and the Golden Compass Series by Phillip Pullman. Both were excellent!

The plural of series is series.

My favorites, off the top of my head include:

    Harry Potter

    Lord of the Rings

Stephen King's "Dark Tower the Gunslinger" series.

    David Baldacci's "Camel Club" series.

    Dan Brown's "Robert Langdon" series.

and, in humor... Janet Evanovitch's "Stephanie Plum" series

I've also read a couple of Elizabeth Peters' "Amelia Peabody" series, rather a cross between mystery and humor, including "The Serpent and the Crown," and enjoyed them.

The Golden Compass books were good also.

Of the ones on my list no one here has mentioned, I have to recommend Baldacci's Camel Club. Awesome series of thriller novels.

And the Stephanie Plum novels, because everyone needs a humor break.

Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan.
    Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson
    Harry Potter, JK Rowling.

I just love what Jordan does with viewpoint.

I'm a little disappointed no one has mentioned A Song of Ice and Fire or The Ender Series, but a lot of good picks are here also. .

I liked the Ender series, but I don't think it would be my favorite.

Don't you have to read the Beginner series first?

(I never read the series, but can't pass up the opportunity for a really bad pun.)
