You can try http://cheezland.org/ It's where the Cheezfrens went to play when ICHC got too stoopy. I don't hang out there as much as I used to (on here too much), but it's got teh kitteh memes!

That's pretty much it when you're starting out. Over time you do that by using lists to give you a tailored feed.
How - find people similar to you (like me) and follow their followers. Why - because it's a great marketing tool for authors, not to mention a support network. Yesterday, I posted a review of another author's book on my blog. I Tweeted a link to the blog. 473 people have seen the cover and title of her book from that single Tweet. Four people Tweeted back to say they'd bought it based on the review--and those are the ones who made the effort to Tweet; how many others bought it and didn't tell me? 52 people have read the full review, and it was only posted 19 hours ago. Even if only 10% of those buy it... that's 5 sales she didn't have 20 hours ago. Since she's published with a small press, even those numbers aren't insignificant. But that was just one Tweet that was soon buried in everyone's feeds. My pinned Tweet - the one that appears at the top of my page at all times - has been up a few months and 9,031 people have seen it. That's 9,031 people who probably wouldn't have heard of me if I wasn't on Twitter. When I have books for sale, if just 1% of those people buy a copy and tell a friend... that's powerful.
I don't think so. Having watched the juice video which supposedly triggers this ASMR thing, I just found myself getting frustrated at how much of the juice the person was spilling over the table when they were pouring it into the glass.
I like to write off-line and have no internet connection at home. This makes wasting time much more difficult. I use the internet at work and it is a great tool, but a lousy entertainment device. Internet or not, a rule respected can fix almost any problem I am looking to solve. I also got rid of my TV 6 years ago, and that feels just fine.
For time-eating websites (I wouldn't call it time-wasting ...exactly) you can't beat YouTube. I go on to look for one specific video...and several hours later I emerge with eyes crossed and my head filled with nostalgia or just pure shite. I can never NOT click on the sidebars, which lead to more sidebars, and etc. Then I go away and buy several CDs.
From The Best of the Carpenters to Top Ten Scariest Ghosts Caught On Film... How the hell does it happen?? Arrgghh! Just watched the other and it's even worse. Whispering... goes through me like fingernails down a chalkboard! How either those clips trigger anything but rage I'll never know.
@jannert @OurJud And I usually *start* with sporner videos so you can imagine the strange avenues of YouTube I find myself in three hours later.

I read the review (loved it) and ALMOST bought the book. I must confess, it looks intriguing and pretty amusing. I may do at some stage, once I've waded through my backlog of stuff.
Speaking of Twitter, my Loch Ness Monster tweet is proving very popular and I can't stop laughing at the people who think I was serious.
