Hey guys I am an amateur writer for 12 years. To be honest I didn't take it seriously but now I believe I can make a go of it I mainly writer thriller type stuff, short stories mainly and poetry. My dream would be to write horror/psych thrillers or epic fantasy. I guess to make this more interesting I will turn this into a discussion. Is there a point in writing fantasy? Whats left within this field to be original? I worry my work will end up being a "lord of the rings" and "song of ice and fire" hybrid lol. So whats people opinion on this? Nice to meet you all Fizzedine X
Hi, Fizzedine, and welcome to the forum! Please read the New Member Quick Start Guide, participate, and have fun. Apologies for not welcoming you earlier - it's been a bit busy around here, I guess. Anyway, this is a great place for writers, and I hope you find what you're looking for. In answer to your question, of course there's a point in writing epic fantasy. There's nothing wrong with the genre, only with what copycat writers do with it. If you can bring something fresh to it, and if you can write well, you'll find a big market.
