    Flying Dolphin Injures Boaters?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by lordofhats, Oct 10, 2008.

    This is weird:

Leaping Dolphin Gives Fla. Boaters cuts, bruises

This is one the weirder things I've seen recently. A family of three on a eighteen foot boat, as well as the family's daughter's boyfriend, were apparently injured when a dolphin jumped into the boat and injured them as it thrashed about .

A young man was fishing in a tournament this year and a blue marlin leaped over the boat, spearing him in the chest and almost killing him.

Guess that make fishing a "contact" sport!

Add that to the sting ray that flew up onto a boat a while ago and stabbed one of the men on the boat with his tail.

I can see it now on cable: When Marine Animals Attack!

    those sure paint funny pictures.
I guess I will stick to pickerel and pike fishing.
at least I am bigger than they are.
except a pike once caught and on land
bit into Don's finger and it wouldn't let go even
with Dom and I beating on its head with a big stick.
Took a while to make it let go.

Poor dolphin. It was probably pretty confused and panicked when it found itself on a boat.

Oh, and if I were that pike, I would have bitten your friend too. Poor fishie.

Maybe it wanted to beach itself, and this was the next best thing?

Something similar to this happened to my uncle and his ex-wife. They were out on their boat, and a barracuda jumped out of the water. It hit the dashboard, and broke off the key in the ignition. The coastguard had to come out and tow them back to shore. There was a small news story about it.
