I think it would be cool, but no where near necessary, if we had a freewriting section where users logged on and free wrote.
It's not a separate forum or anything but if you wanted to you could use this thread, which is designed for 10-min free-writes to get ideas flowing. You might could use your blog for that also. People do a lot of different things with their blogs on this site, it seems.
As Titania pointed out, there is already such a thread Under Writing Issues -> General Writing. You could also make a game of it in Word Games - that too has been done in the past.
