    Gang crime research

Discussion in 'Research' started by g_man526, Aug 4, 2014.

Hey everyone, so I'm writing a sci-fi/fantasy story based on a dream, and part of it involves a character being stuck in L.A. during either the 1970s or 1990s. The part of my dream that involved this "scene" obviously was influenced by Pulp Fiction, so I was wondering what sorts of source material I should look at to get a feel for the sort of crime environment Quentin Tarantino was focused on. What fact OR fiction might have formed the basis for the world he created there?

If you're looking for specific gang crimes I would stick to bloods and crips. Both of those were started in L.A. (assuming you mean Los Angeles). Bloods started in 1972 and Crips started in 1969.
