Hi, I'm "evanevieve" yes it is a pseudonym mainly because my real name is quite unique and I'm a little hesitant in telling it until I'm a little more comfortable, but it won't take long. Um, it seems like a really nice community from what I can tell and although I'm quite young, I'm here to work on my writing skills and techniques so that I can become a better writer. Next year I'm going to university to study creative writing but I want to learn as much as possible, I love writing even if I think I don't write very well. Ah, I don't kno what else to say... I love fantasy though. Not Urban Fantasy, but more... Sword of Truth fantasy, creatures and swords and women running around in leather outfits like Xena or Cara hahaha yeah.
I love your pen name lol It really drew me in. Nothing wrong with a bit of totty in a fantasy book I prefer mine male though Look forward to seeing your work around.
Thank you I've been using this name for a while a mash up of 'Evangeline and Genevieve', I like to mix names around together and create a new one. And I've always been drawn in by strong female characters in fantasy novels, I think my mum raised me that way haha. Thanks
I think it is the strong woman in me that likes to write the male version lol I try to make them serious and credible but also like them handsome. I love Evangeline as a name think it is stunning. Do you write fantasy as well as read it ?
I've never really tried to write in a male perspective, at least not in first point of view, I've had some third ones though. I can never really get the voice right, I guess I'll have to work on that some more. And yes I do, there's something about fantasy that always draws me in, I don't know why though haha, swords and magic I guess. And cool species. Same reason I probably enjoy watching Science Fiction.
Hi and welcome to the forum, look forward in seeing some of your work Love the name, how you mixed the two in, can't see what you name your characters. Hope everything goes well in university, next year for you
Hey! Thank you I've done it ever since a few years ago when I was in an RPG forum and we'd mix the characters we had names together in the chatbox so we knew who we were talking to and I've been addicted to doing it since I like strange and weird names probably because my own name is kind of weird (or at least it was when I first had it, now it's a little less "unusual". And thank you for the nice comments. Everyone seems so nice and supportive here, it's so pleasant compared to some other forums I've been on. Though they were't creative writing ones but just general forums
This is my first time on any forum, so I am still new at this. Not sure what to do, but so far everyone has been really nice. So you'll fit in perfect. I am so jealous of youthat you can mixed names up. I'm tried to think up some alien names, my friend likes it but I still not sure on it.
I find it difficult it's about the perfect two names going together, it's like manipulating a face onto a different body in Photoshop, you can chop and change but if it's not the right size/angle/colour it's not going to work very well. That's a pretty bad metaphor but I hope you got the basic idea I sometimes just choose two names I find pretty at that moment in time. Evanevieve has been my favourite out of all of mine and it's one I'm very proud of
Yes, I get what you mean. I will tried it your way to see if I can come up with some good ones, if you don't mind
Nope, go right ahead HAve fun with it. I do. I try mixing names around in different orders and such. Like I got Violatrix from Violet and Bellatrix
Do you think I should post them here or would you like me to published them on your profile page. Or should I make a new thread in character development and do it in there, what do you think?
Hi, and welcome. I'm studying Creative Writing at university at the moment (in my second year) and really enjoying it, so I hope you do too.
Really? My teacher said there's a lot of critiquing and apparently if it's crap they'll tell you, which kind of scares me XD but at the same time I'm really excited and cant wait to finish my year at school and begin at uni Thank you Thank you
Hello Evanevieve, Welcome to the Creative Writing Forums. Please read How to Use the Writing Workshop before you post there. Posting your own writing for people to comment on should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. Also, be aware that posting a piece of writing on any public site, including this one, will greatly diminish your chances of selling it for publication. Removing the writing later does not alter that fact - once posted, it is irreversibly considered published. So do not post anything more than a small excerpt of any piece you are planning to submit for publication. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Writing Workshop, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Writing Workshop, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. We also impose a two-week waiting period before you may post writing for critique, to give you time to become familiar with what is expected and how the site operates. The Writing Workshop forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Writing Workshop forum). Also, please use the same thread for all revisions and additional excerpts from the same piece of writing. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out the RPG forum for improvisational fiction. Also try our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
