Step 1: Go running. Step 3: Profit! Gonna build up my cardio and endurance first. Managing to do about 7km in 35 minutes at the moment.
I've been doing great on my diet the past week - elliptical every day, eating good, hoping I can keep it up! Motivated to lose 20 pounds for an event coming up in a little over 4 months. I think 5 pounds a month is totally attainable.
What's step 2? And you guys should feel good about these run times, they are athletic level and at military standards. In the Marince Corps, you had to finish a 3 mile run in under 30 minutes for a female and 28 for a male. A perfect score was 18, but avergae times were between low and mid-twenties. In the Navy, they have a 1.5 mile run, 11 minutes is considered 'medium' level for a man my age (30) but a 9:20 is 'outstanding'. In order to run an 18 minute 3 mile or a 9 minute 1.5 mile you pretty much need to be running with wings on your ankles Week 7 of my spring/summer fat blastoff! I'm glad I took pictures at week 1, the pictures don't lie and now I can really see the results. Back to the gym today for chest and triceps, going to mix in a deadly cardio killer---prep for the feared M100! Burpee/Squat thrust x 10 Mountain climbers (each leg) x 10 Jumping Squats x 10 And I'll see how many sets I can do...before dying. A proper M100 is 10 of each, so you do each exercise 100 times, but I am not Superman yet.
I keep saying I'll get fit. I now have a programme to work on. It's been devised by the FA for footballers who are either without a club this pre-season or who are at clubs who don't have a pre-season programme. The full programme is available on the FA's website, but the bits I'll be following as of Wednesday are: I will get fit. Once I've done this part of the programme, I might move on to weeks 3 and 4, which are far more intense. As of now, however, I need to build up from scratch.
That is the sheer brilliance of the plan! That's about 3:45/k, which is pretty damn fast for 3 miles / 4.8 km. I'll be happy to see the seconds shaved off my time slowly but surely
Aside from some typical disappointments at the gym, it was a good session, I got alot done, I'm sore, I sweated alot, etc. Something intesting happened though as I walked past a mirror. Ususally I say to myself "who's that chubby guy with the fat butt?" but yesterday I was like "man, that skinny guy has a sweaty t-shirt...oh, oh! That skinny guy is me?" Progress!
^I LOVE moments like that! I had that once, I was walking past a glass door in my track pants, and I caught my reflection in the mirror and had to stop for a minute before it clicked that it was me! Part of me thinks it would be cool to post pictures of our progress here...but the other part of me really doesn't want to post pictures of my fatty fat self. I went to our freshy practice last night to help out a little, since a bunch of them are taking their skills test tonight. The freshy coach started the practice by saying we probably weren't going to go the whole time and that it would be a pretty laid-back practice... Holy sh*t, man. One of the toughest practices I've been to in a while. I've got a ring of blisters around my right ankle, my knees are killing me, and I had to come home and ice my shoulder last night. Tons of fun, though.
Lol, I love it when they're like "yeah, today's gonna be an easy day" and then they murder you. Highly suspect phrases coming from any trainer or coach
No gym required here, lucky for me. My dogs and my job keep me fit. If I didn't have animals in my life, judging from the amount of junk food I eat, I'd probably have small moons orbiting me.
Down 2 pounds since I started my diet last Tuesday. Not bad. Just hoping it keeps going that way since I have a bunch more to lose LOL...
Great job, Jessica! Jon, yeah, I'm really starting to suspect that they tell us it'll be easy just to mess with us. Every time they've done that, we go over our usual practice time and I end up exhausted. I'm on to you, coaches!
I got my defined stomach today! Wheeee!!! I try and eat healthy and all but I don't count calories or anything,...but I do work out...a LOT....and it paid off.
Nice job! Define defined. A line down the middle or 6/8 discrete units of muscle? I've decided to improve my fitness while I can/ before it's too late/ to prepare my body for the onslaught of middle-age. First up, some publicly declared goals. By 31st August: 100 press-ups. 25 pull ups. 10 standing ab roll-outs.
I hope so! =) I guess that's about the only part of me that's really fit anymore. Not only do I write, I also play the bass so I ought to have pretty healthy fingers!
For today's workout I'm going to try incorporating some new excercises: side-to-side pushups and hydraulics. I like excercises that work multiple muscle groups at once
Do you slide across to your other hand or do one side, then the other? I can't do the slide yet Well I can, but only like 5 before I land on my face
Woohoo! Way to go! That's been my goal for a long time, but I'm not sure it's ever going to happen... I'm always excited when I start incorporating new stuff into my workout. Let us know how the new stuff goes! I'm going to a circuit training class with a bunch of girls from derby tonight. I'm a little nervous, since my shoulder is still messed up, but I think it'll be fun.
Shin splints! Aaaaaah!! Really hate getting this, and for some reason it's just happened in my left leg. Can't run for a while, so my three step plan is ruined. Suppose it's time to do something not leg orientated.
I tried the hand movement variation, it takes a little coordination and they're harder than I thought. I did them in the middle of my workout and my arms were already shot by then, so yeah, I fell after 5 literally:redface:
That's exactly what I do... 1, 2, ....3.....4.......5 faceplant! I keep trying though! At some point I have to get to 6, right?
Lol, I dunno. The pyramid pushups are really good though, you can do them at your own pace and them killed my arms. I'm up to 12 now, one day...20!
