The comment I bolded I find funny. That's the point of working out. That's how you get stronger. I never strive to vomit. It's not an enjoyable thing. I never suggested anyone should. I simply said it happens sometimes and did in the beginning for me and that quitting because it does (a time or two or while you're adjusting) is absurd. Stopping for the day, yes, fine. Quitting the program? Not just for that. I plan to continue this regime for another two months. Then I'll back off a bit (but not stop completely, cause that would be stupid). Actually I have more energy than I ever have (though I'm certainly not suggesting anyone do what I do - at all).
Trish, don't lie, you love vomiting. In regards to vomiting, I think it really depends on why you're throwing up. At my circuit class on Monday, I almost threw up, but it wasn't because I was working too hard--it was because of a combination of health issues and heat. Ultimately, I think you just need to be in tune with your body and, more importantly, be willing to call it quits for the day if you feel like you've reached your limit. As far as P90x not being effective...I wouldn't recommend using it to go balls to the wall to someone who hasn't exercised in years and is severely out of shape. However, having seen people use it with great results, I definitely think it's effective. Once again, it just comes down to knowing your body and knowing how far you can push yourself.
Hell yeah, it does! I used to work at a movie theater with a DDR machine, and we had employees that lost a ton of weight from playing DDR.
On Tuesday I did a 7 mile run, it took an hour and I burned over 850 calories. Lesson for the future...if you ever plan on running 7 miles or more make sure top drink plenty of fluids before or during, and make sure to eat properly. I was nearly cramping by the end Apparently I dropped 7 pounds in the last 2 weeks or so too. I went from 211 pounds to 204. Either that or the scale need to be fixed Today is back and biceps, I skipped yesterday, may the gym gods forgive me.
Awesome! Congrats (don't do the no water thing anymore, I know you're telling US not to, but it probably wouldn't hurt to reinforce that you shouldn't either, since you're the one that did it ) I'm impressed you made it that far without cramping with no water though...
Holy Shizzz! 7 miles in one hour. That's seriously impressive. I can barely pull out four miles in an hour. The first mile is always deceiving. I can run a mile in 8 minutes, but after that, I add an an average of 3 minutes with each subsequent mile. The last mile takes me like twenty minutes. Congrats and keep it up. I'm thinking about rollerblading instead of running now.
My job's a surprisingly good workout. Taking rows of heavy shopping carts inside is tough. You won't believe how heavy those things can get. But it's like a workout I get paid for, so....
I believe it. I used to work at a department store and I lost 15 pounds while there. Constantly being on your feet and having to walk around a rather big store all day, plus cleaning up at night, bringing the carts in, etc... definitely a good workout. Then I went to an office job and gained a lot of weight - apparently sitting on your butt most of the day isn't so great for losing weight LOL. On the diet front, I'm weighing myself again this weekend and keeping my fingers crossed, hoping to be past the 5 lb mark now.
I'm hoping it keeps me pretty active this summer and in the fall too. I run, bounce on the trampoline and walk a lot but it's always nice to have a job that keeps you active.
Swimming laps works really good. I usually do like 2-3 miles worth of laps because that's what I can do in the time slots I have, but if it's on a weekend or something and time isn't an issue I can do like 5 miles. It gets you REALLY fit.
I haven't been to the local waterpark in so long, but I think I'll go this summer more often and swim.
Dude...great job on the run! Definitely drink more water next time, but daaaaaamn! I'm impressed. Also, Trish, I have new respect for you after starting my new workout program. I've never done either, but it seems to take elements from both P90x and Insanity, and holy crap...I can't imagine doing two hours of this business six days a week.
Thanks, but it may be misplaced, lol. I don't do two hours at that intensity. The most I do at that intensity per day is 45 minutes, the rest of the 2 hours is running, yoga, and things like that. I would die doing two hours a day of that. But I do have 30-45 mins of it a day - 6 days a week
Ok, that makes me feel a lot better about myself! My workouts are set up to take 45-60 minutes, and right now I'm ready to die at about half an hour...I was like two hours?? I would have a heart attack!
LOL, glad you feel better I do the 2 hours all at once, but the insanity-type stuff is only the first 30-45 mins
Yeah, that sounds closer to what I do...sort of. I do the HIIT stuff and cardio all at once, but I do yoga separately.
That's like exactly what I do... I just continue the cardio when I'm done and also do yoga and stuff separately See? I'm not that awesome
You actually do stuff. Me every ounce of my exercise is part of a video game or LARPINg. I count that as exercise because I can go. One hour of DDR is my best. I have my bad knee and my bad everything really so it begins to bother after a while. So sometimes its only ten minutes.
I went for a run today and had indoor soccer last night. It's the first time I've done exercise two days in a row in a while. My muscles are aching
