1. Finish my third novel (am halfway there) 2. Keep working with the editor on the first one. 3. Pray that my second novel hits and exercise in the meantime. What's yours?
1. Sell a piece of fiction to a paying publisher. That's number one. 2. Restructure my life to allow for about three times as much writing time per week as I get now. I know how to do it, but I need to implement. 3. I have three novellas planned - one is seventy percent done, one is five percent done, the third isn't started - and I want to get them all finished. 4. Get a good start on the new draft of my novel. 5. I have four short stories in first draft form right now and I want to complete them all and submit them for publication.
1. Edit my novel (which should be done before the 1st: only about 3,000 words left) 2. Send said novel to agent/publisher 3. Finish another one of my many unfinished novels 4. Repeat step 2 5. Write one of these new ideas that's ticking around in my head. Really, I want to finish stuff and get the publishing process up and moving.
1) Begin dieting hard again to kick off more weightloss, then maintain it to get from my current size 14 to a size 12, which has been my goal since I was a size 16-18 a year ago. 2) Work harder than ever on courswork and try to achieve firsts. 3) Sell more short stories 4) Begin an adult/YA novel 5) Take better care of myself and my appearance 6) Cook more complex dishes and keep up my vegetarian diet, no matter what anyone says. 7) See a careers advisor and get some work experience.
I haven't seen you around the Get Fit Thread... We can totally make 1 and 6 happen. We are cool like that My goals: 1) Get my diet in check (eat better than I did in '10) 2) GRADUATE with a BS in English 3) Find a job that pays me ~$30k or more a year 4) Sell a piece of fiction to a paying publisher.
Finish the greatest story ever written. Though perhaps that is being too ambitious, just finish my current work I suppose. Fully go veg, and perhaps lose some weight while I am at it, maybe.
1. Make a derby team 2. Get back on track with my diet and exercising regularly 3. Finish paying off Joel's school loans 4. Start school in August But mostly right now, my goal is just to not lose my mind.
I'm a complete failure at keeping New Year's Resolutions. I make a list of them, in my head, usually on new years eve and within a week they are out the window. Forgotten. However 'never say die' So for 2011 here goes. Set a time each day to write - treat writing as a job rather than a hobby. Finish some of the things I've started and contact an agent or two or three or I may have to write to quite a number of them before I find one that sees something worthwhile and marketable in my writing (just being realistic here, not despondent). Go to the theatre more often to see what type of plays are being produced today. I gave up on dieting a long time ago. Whether I diet or not I'm a size 16. I have finally come to accept that as a fact and I've stopped bothering about it. So no resolution in that department. All the best for 2011 to all of you. Here wishing you all, all you wish yourselves. Cheers!
First aim: graduate with a First-class degree. Get called to the Bar. Second aim: get a well-paid job out of uni so I can afford a car. Third aim: sort this damn knee out.
1. Keep up with the exercise, take up running again in the spring & stay in shape 2. Work hard and hopefully get a promotion 3. Record more music 4. Be happier than in 2010. Do all I can do to make the people around me happier too. 5. Go on holiday. It's been too long. 6. Finish editing my book & decide what to do with it next. 7. Forgive him, even if I cannot forget him... yet. Learn from this. That should do.
Hey, it's possible, Pallas. Good luck Me? My goal would be to finish my book I started writing before Christmas. *crosses fingers* Let's hope I do finish it this year and not next year or the year after
1. Be a good father. 2. Visit Lydia 3. Write more. 4. Finish at least a few new original songs. 5. Perform with my band as much as possible. 6. Be less of a douchebag in general.
Act Serious (because I normally joke around when people don't want to) Maintain a positive attitude around people Finish writing The "Mainifestation" novel (hopefully it gets published, but far from it). Graduate college with a bachelor's degree (but the anticipation of finishing classes is 2012). Find a job whose employer is willing to give me the respect its other employees have.
That's exactly what I'm saying! Seriously, though, Rob...it hurts my feelings a little bit that you just called yourself a douchebag. And in an attempt to not derail this thread, I would like to add to my list of goals to get better at knitting. Because it just took me like an hour to knit ONE ROW of stitches in the round. Gah.
1) Publish my first novel and become a bestselling, rich fantasy novelist. 2) Become a more active part of my god-daughter's life. 3) Move out of my current city and back to where my friends are.
Well, since I'm still in "youth mode" I don't have resolutions like you guys do to get a job, publish a novel, or pay off a loan . I would like to place in my library's summer arts and writing contest (I'll enter all the categories multiple times, just for security XD). And get around to drawing up and GIMP-coloring my own avatar (a caraciture of myself while maintaining the J motif) for discussion boards and websites. And perfect my cartwheel, I guess. I usually have many mini-goals throughout the year, so I don't like limiting myself to a concrete list. The problem with that is that I end up leaving lots of goals to rot in the back of my mind .
My resolutions: 1.Get more books for my Nancy Drew book collection 2.Finish writing my story 3.Pray that my parents do not have buisness trips 4.Have fun!
